Tomas Plekanec to Minnesota

TO MIN: PLEKANECS
TO MTL: PM BOUCHARD or BRODZIAK, ZACK PHILLIPS, 1ST

Koivu and Plekanecs would make a very solid 2 way 1-2 punch down the middle and having Plekanecs would give them some depth and just in case Koivu gets hurt. Wild could make a run for the cup if they added a solid 2nd line centre.

Parise-Koivu-Clutterbuck
Heatley-Plekanecs-Setoguchi

Solid top 2 lines

PM Bouchard could use a change of scenery and MTL would make use of his big frame, only question is his health so Brodziak might be a better choice for MTL.

Pass from the Montreal POV here. Brodziak is reasonably solid and I'd like to have him on the team, but he doesn't bring quite as much as Plekanec. Bouchard is too risky. A 1st is nice, but the Habs need the better player more than more futures. Phillips is basically just a throw-in at this point, I wouldn't attach significant trade value to him.

Minnesota is very high on Granlund, and I'm sure they think a 1-2 punch of Koivu and Granlund is fine with them. Brodziak is also a great 3rd line center, they might as well keep him.

Makes sense on one hand on another it doesnt.

Granlund is Minnesotas second line center as least for now thats where they see him.

PM Bouchard is not a big body as per your mesage.

Brodziak just re-signed, at an affordable rate and is an excellent 3 rd line C, Montreal has that in Eller.

Phillips, Hcoach in Saint John Sea Dogs, Gerard Gallant is the assistant coach in Montreal and thus he played in the QMJHL so I can see some interest coming from Montreal, but IMO it would involve a defencemen, which Minny could use.

Agreed.

It would take more significant pieces coming our way. Bouchard is made out of glass, Brodziak isn't anywhere close to the player Plekanec is, and Philips is a long shot to ever make an impact in the big league. A 1st round pick in 2013 makes it interesting, but I'm pretty sure Bergevin would ask for a blue-chip prospect coming our way on top of that.

I think we are rather comfortable with Koivu/Granlund/Brodziak down the middle right now; and, depending on how the draft is decided coming out of the lockout, our 1st rounder could be rather high.

Pass.

You clearly have no idea what Minnesota's wants are or even what players make up this team. Clutterbuck on the 1st line? Bouchard a big body? Ever heard of Mikael Granlund? What a laughable proposal.

If Plekanec is traded to Minny, I want Coyle, period.

And this is where we would mutually and amicably decide to end the conversation.

Well no ****. One's a proven NHLer while the other is a prospect. Bottom line is that no Wild fan is interested in Plekanec and this proposal is awful.

Plekanec holds a lot of value to the team, perhaps not Granlund, but I'd ask for that. It would take an overpayment to get him; a great two-way center who's been important to Montreal's PK and general play - do not use this year because of injuries to the team.

I know it seems bad.

I'd like to point out that Granlund still has 0 NHL games played. He's got the makings of a fine player, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. No team looking to make the playoffs is going to say they don't need Plekanec because they have Granlund at this point.

The only player from the Wild I'd want for Plekanec is Dumba. I doubt Minny fans would want to trade him. I read Dumba has not progressed well since the draft, but he's still a top pick.

Minimal interest in adding a forward at this stage. Especially at the price mentioned in this thread.

Minnesota isn't short on two way centers. I doubt very much anyone in the Montreal organization (or any organization) would trade anything of significance for Bouchard. Brodziak is a an excellent 3rd line center and probably a fairly decent second line center if he has real top six wingers to play with...that's if Granlund is a total failure at C his first year. I can see MN dealing next year's 1st round pick though for a roster player as we are very laden with prospects at the moment--everyone wants the pick but it wouldn't cripple us if we decided we needed help somewhere on the roster (likely D still, if Scandella can't pull it together and Spurgeon is still injured).

I think at this point, you would be hard pressed to get any prospects from Minnesota. Because thats all they are. Whats the old saying, throw enough **** at the wall and see what sticks? Thats what Minnesota needs to do, cause some are going to bust a couple will probably break out. Who that is, is anyones guess.

Also trading Phillips right now would be terrible, he has no value cause he is buried on the AHL depth chart behind Granlund, Larsson and Mcntyre. He is getting terrible minutes right now. Can't really judge him yet, he needs the NHL to start so Granlund can move up and open up some minutes.

Nope from Minnesota.

Also, lol @ Clutterbuck on the 1st line. Shows how much the OP knows the Wild.
