Winter break rules, but the school timing of our break blows hard.

Off for two-and-a-half weeks, come back for a week, and take finals the second and final week of the semester than start a new one. You get through 16 of the 18 weeks of the semester, miss almost three weeks, then finish off the last two and take your finals.

They actually expect people to study over winter break.

Hell yeah, tell your parents about the threat and that all you need to do is take the quiz. I don't know how your school is though, mine, they wanted the death certificate of one of my family members to validate my reasoning for not going to school for the funeral or they would suspend me. I had a perfect attendance record through high school other than that and even was one of those people Clinton's office sent a letter and pin too for excellence in attendance. They didn't give a damn, they had their policy. I told my parents and they went ape **** on them and got them to let it slide. The guy with the threat would have been expelled on the spot at my school.

Finals after break has got to be one of the dumbest things ever. Yuck.

Currently enjoying my second-last winter break before entering the real world.

I also miss the time in my life where something like that was what "blew hard" as opposed to now in adult life.

I am always aware of what I would do if a situation arose in which my safety was at risk. Nothing's common about common sense these days. I will out-smart the ******* that thinks his selfish act is so important. I hate the fact people have to be like that, but this is the world we live in, and you constantly have to adapt to an environment and confidence that will keep you safe.

It blows hard since I'll forget everything before finals since I won't want to study.

I had that in high school too. I didn't study anyways, so it wasn't a big deal.

As a music student, that was when you were expected to practice the most. After all, nothing else going on.

Exactly. That was the life. All there was to do is go to hockey to practice everyday! Sigh...memories.

My high school had finals after break when I was there. Changed it I think 3-4 years ago so now it's before.

I honestly cannot remember if mine were before or after break. I'm pretty sure they were after break.

Mine were always before break. High school finals were a big joke, easiest things in the world. Didn't matter if it was an AP, honors, or regular class - they were all the same in that they rarely actually challenged the student.

You know I hated school when I was a kid. I was a bad student, primarily due to a lack of interest. Where once school ended and my working career started...it's been better for me. I actually like my job

Not that there's a "good" time for the flu but of all times of the year to get one..

Sorry, man.

Lol the work force sucks, high school sucks, the real world sucks. Can we all just agree life is ****.

My finals are before break and tomorrow is my last one. I'm worried about tomorrow. I was telling my friend in Australia that I think there may be a shooting somewhere in the us but I pray it won't and he lectured me and told me not to say that. Arg. Also haven't studied for a single exam. 91 on AP statics (****ing hard class where the average is an 80), 91 on band (hard since you have to identify rhythms and notes) and 95 on two yearbook exams before curves (editing and proofreading a page and looking for design errors. 50 total errors and it usually is failed by most people by before curve).

Hawkey, life is what you make of it. I work a job that doesn't provide the greatest pay by any stretch, but absolutely love my life. Surrounded myself with great friends and family (at least the family I choose to speak with), and make the best of everything. The sooner you yourself can grasp that, the better off you'll be. Hopefully for your sake, that is very very soon before you do something on a whim that can hurt yourself and/or others around you. It's time for you to lighten up, and appreciate the gift of life that you have received.

The grass is always greener. Life is what you make of it. Me and my daughter are both sick as sin but I'm enjoying every minute of her laying on my chest watching Nick Jr. Some people love their job, others work to live.

But trust me, high school and teenage problems are laughable once you start dealing with real issues.
