My dog is whimpering in the corner because his painkillers from the vet are wearing off, but I can't give him a pill for it until tomorrow morning. The feels man...
We woke up this morning to find a couple large pools of blood on the floor. We took him to the vet ASAP. Turns out a small cut he got a week ago became infected and created a large mass of subcutaneous puss, blood, etc that had started to go gangrenous. It partially opened up overnight, hence the blood on the floor. He went into surgery for two hours and they drained it and cut out all the infected tissue, but had to open him up from belly to the top of his shoulder to do so. He has three drains put in and a massive wound. He's going to be in a cone for three weeks, more if his checkup next week reveals there is still some infected tissue. I was planning to go home in a couple days, but I don't know if I can with him like this.
