durable or not, he's pretty much journeyman... 4 years for that type of pitcher...

He could have had a similar contract last winter. He's a decent #3 or a good #4.

8 teams in 11 seasons. Why has he bounced around and he's not even 30 yet?

Good enough to have trade value, but not good enough to be a core piece. Tampa in particular bought him on the cheap (they sold high on closer Danys Baez) and eventually parlayed Jackson to Detroit for a much needed outfield bat in Matt Joyce.

Chicago's rotation is quietly really good. Not many teams can do better than Garza-Jackson-Samardzija-Baker-Villanueva with Wood and Feldman in reserve.

they've set themselves up to trade away anyone who performs well.

and since prospects are getting thrown around like nothing, why not?

Jackson gave up 14 HRs on the road last season in 90 innings. Should be fun watching him pitch at Wrigley.

I always liked Jackson as a mid-back of the rotation guy. He's just so inconsistent.

I'll never forget in 2011 in a game against Milwaukee where the Cards had a depleted/tired bullpen TLR left him in to take a beating. He gave up like 12 runs in 7 innings.

I remember TLR did that with Marquis back in 06 against the White Sox too

Cards and Reds are going to beat up on that rotation. It's really not even that good.

Yea he is just SO inconsistent, a lot of guys on the radio here in STL used to talk about how some games it seemed like he was tipping his pitches and would just get absolutely rocked while other games he looked dominant.

The Cards and Reds are way better teams. Theo and Hoyer have built a solid rotation, though, without a doubt. There isn't an ace in the bunch, but they're good one through five, and Wood and Feldman are nice depth starters to have for when Baker and/or Villanueva inevitably get hurt.

Another solid move for Theo.

Nobody has upgraded their team while giving up nothing in return better then the Flubs.

you say that like they have anything of value to give up in return.

I liked Jackson in his time with White Sox and think this is good move for Cubs

Wanted to keep him on Southside

I had to do a double take when it was mentioned he's still under the age of 30.
