Admittedly I don't know much about these prospects, but I'd love Drouin on the Habs... perhaps as 4th overall? Thought Barkov would be higher, and Monahan at 5th overall.

Monahan and Lindholm are ahead of Barkov. That seems to be a minority opinion from most of the lists I've seen.

Whether or not the rankings are correct, ESPN doesn't know jack about hockey.

Plus Shinkaruk at 23? Come on now. Linus Arnesson at 25 was another interesting ranking.

If anyone wants to know about the rankings, but doesn't have insider you can PM me for info and questions.

I know it's fashionable to bash ESPN as a hockey illiterate entity, but these rankings were done by Grant Sonier who has experience as an NHL scout. It's not like these rankings were cobbled together by Barry Melrose. I wasn't a big fan of Sonier's 2012 Draft rankings, but I acknowledge that he's seen the draftees much more extensively than many of us.

That's true. I shouldn't senselessly bash it. I've just seen more than enough trash hockey reporting out of ESPN to last a life time.

ESPN online is perfectly decent at covering hockey. Just their TV coverage sucks balls.

What's the rest of the list look like?

Shinkaruk at 23? laughable, probably the best finisher in the draft, even better than Mackinnon.

I'm nowhere near smart enough to do anything other than guess on half of the first round talent. I can give a reasonable guess of the top 6 players and I would have

MacKinnon
Jones
Barkov
Drouin
Monahan
Lindholm


I also think Zadorov is a top 10 talent.

I don't think either brings any insight to the table frankly.

They know their football and I'll give them that, but hockey has been a slow crawl to relevancy for them.
