Is it any surprise that a guy produces less when he isn't playing with Joe Thornton? It's no secret that players like Thornton make everyone around them better - that's why they are superstar players. Pavelski is a well above average two-way forward in the NHL, and is at least equal to a guy like Brandon Dubinsky. Don't be surprised when Dubinsky produces less with the Jackets since, you know, he won't be on a team with Brad Richards or Marian Gaborik.
Dubinsky didn't play with Gaborik and Richards much. He was primarily used on the second line with Anisimov in the middle and Callahan on the right, and then got bumped down to the third line which was a black hole since Brian Boyle was his center. Boyle didn't compliment Dubinsky at all.
And Dubinsky was probably the unluckiest Ranger last season. Snake-bitten. He didn't have a problem generating scoring chances, or being an effective forechecker.
The year before, when Gaborik went down with an injury our first line was Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan. 1st line minutes, against opposing teams best defensive pairs, and the trio shined.
Kid has such fire and passion I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks out and clips 60p this year with more ice-time, and something to prove. But keep your expectations to a minimum if it makes you sleep better at night.
I have a bad feeling if we dont get a CBA reached, hes just going to stay in Russia.
I would bet against that imo. I would be absolutely shocked if he did. He devoted so much time learning english, and he loves playing in the NHL. I don't think a single Rangers fan worried about him bolting to the KHL.

Someone posted a rumor in KHL that he would dont know if it has any backing to it. Plus hes not a Ranger anymore hes a Blue Jacket

There's a difference between playing for the Rangers and the Jackets. He spent a few years in the NYR system, but has no ties to Ohio whatsoever.
Anisimov had to learn English cause he was the only Russian on the team, but in general you can live in NYC and never learn the language. Just go to the Brighton Beach and you can find there even black people who can speak Russian, they've learned it at work. Also NYC is a big stage unlike Columbus.
Right now Anisimov has to choose between his hometown and Columbus. His NHL contract expires at the end of this season and he gonna get a really good offer from the Loko that Columbus possibly won't be able to match.
BTW some weird stats. Max Mayorov scored 11 goals and only 1 assist in the KHL this season.
He played with Zherdev in the line under a new coach and get many ice time btw but now he is in the second line with sweden players... he simply need creative player to the line if not max isnt productive.
