I just hope we get a top-10 pick. That is all I want if this season is locked out. Give me Pulock or Lindholm. Or Drouin or Ristolainen... I'm not picky.

True, but at least you can watch Seth Jones vs Elias Lindholm. With any luck one of them will be in our system a year from now.

Just got back to the office, had to teach 2 classes this morning, put the audio on.
Second period, Canada 2, Finland 2, second period, Reinhart scored Canada's first goal.
Pokka not playing for Finland because he played for Karpat 2 nights ago.

You can hear the game www.tsn.ca/nhl

Nice to hear Reinhart stepping up offensively.

End of the second period, Canada 2, Finland 2.
Reinhart with Canada's first goal, followed up the play and scored on
a rebound after Jenner and Hudon went in on a 2 on 1.

Don't think he is playing today. Could be wrong though.

I think a lot of Team USA's big dogs won't be suiting up today. They plan on making cuts so they want the bubble players to show what they got.

I am recording the game and will watch later today, but not too happy that Jones and Trouba are scratched. Those 2 are the ones I was most interested in seeing. I guess it's a chance to get a look at Galchenyuk.

Excited to see Forsberg (he was the object of my desire at the draft), he's wearing the C for Sweden.

I saw one comment is the GDT saying that but I'm not sure if thats credible enough. I know he played on the PK.

Managed to watch the replay, CAN was flat, very flat and took far too many dumb penalties. Very good team though.

Strome was pretty good, looked rusty. BMack made the point that Strome and a few of the other top guys hardly played this past week, were trying to determine the cuts. Strome looked good though, much better than he looked last year. He skated well, tried to do too much at times.

Reinhart, solid as always. Very smart player with great size, excellent passer and amazing defensively. If he gets invited to camp (if there is one), he'll probably be the best on the team.

RNHis a damn nice player.

.
I've been arguing that because 22 yr old Donovan is 4 yrs ahead in his development, that Reinhart would end up back in juniors and Donovan would end up joining the Isles this season.

But, from your report, it sounds like it would be very tough for the Isles to send Reinhart back down.

This is just a guess having never seen Pokka play. I want to see if opposing players
are having an easy time skating around him. It may be more pronounced playing
against men than in this tournament against his own age group.

Final score Finland 5, USA 1. Had my first look at Ville Pokka. Pretty much like Reinhart, there is no flash to his game, but is very efficient. High hockey sense, makes all the right plays and his first pass is right on target, keeping his team out of trouble. Defensive positioning was outstanding in this game.
He's not very physical but he does enough to take his man out of the play. Pokka didn't really do anything offensively and did not get any powerplay time. He killed penalties and once again his being in position, and making smart plays was good. This might be a good thing, I did not notice his skating was good or bad. The one time he had to handle a player rushing at him one on one he handled the play perfectly. He made a good first impression on me. One thing you have to say about Reinhart, Pokka and Pelech, they all have high hockey sense which I value a lot (kind of like the Red Wings).

WOW thats good news, mayby playing against men help him with "lower" competition...

Theres nothing wrong with a defensman who knows the position and can think the game, if he uses his head and stick and makes few mistakes then he does not need to be physical

Team Finland will likely win it all this year... Pokka is one of the centerpieces. Their only weakness is in goal.

Just in case you are looking for hockey on TV, NHL Network is replaying some games from last year's
World Junior today. At noon there is Finland vs Slovakia, at 4PM is Finland vs Sweden. You can see
Ville Pokka from last year's tournament and Johan Sundtrom for Sweden. Happy Holiday's and enjoy!
