Peters shut-out Aeros Saturday and the team recorded a 2-1 road win at San Antonio yesterday.

#1 in the AHL, actually. Although the Checkers have a schedule similar to the Canes...too many games to start the year, so other teams have anywhere from 0 to 6 games in hand.

Checkers have played 30 games, whereas a team like Binghamton has only played 24.

Yeah, I based my statement on their win percentage, which wasn't best in the AHL.

Loving it.

Not that I've ever had any problem with dalpe. Solid prospect. Boychuk has stepped up this year and is becoming the guy we hoped he'd be. Good in all zones, good decisions with the puck, scoring both skill and clutch goals, using his speed well. It's been curious the lack of talk about him around here, but to fair te lockout has people doing other things regardless. He's lighting it up in a stacked league.

Ill add its time for me to say welch has become pretty legit as well. I was tough on him early. To be fair he was awful. I get it now. He's really moving his feet well and while he'll never be "fast" he gets some impressive momentum and shows surprising agility for his size. Good hands and vision, shoots hard and uses his body to shield the puck well. For those who were talking about a comparison to Penney vs Malone...definitely more penner. Welsh is not a physical player yet. Much more penner, much less malones grit down low. Still he's come around quite well and is most obvious "pro" prospect of those guys to me at this point. He's a good package that they can move around in different roles, whereas dalpe and boychuk are gonna be less versatile.

For those who don't know, the Checkers come to the PNC on the 6th of January.

Got my tickets today. Just need some kind of hockey back.

Wallace with a 4 point night so far? I guess he's pretty much guaranteed himself a spot on the 4th line or as the 13th forward now.

Seems like everyone that has a shot at the Canes roster scored a goal last night. Wallace, Boychuk, Dalpe, Welsh and Sanguinetti.

Dalpe with the first goal, and Nash wins it in OT for the Checkers. Muse with the start over Peters.

Is there any reason Muse's AHL numbers blow his ECHL numbers out of the water? I would assume it's mental, but his AHL numbers look like he could be a decent NHL starter. His ECHL numbers look like he could barely scrape by for them in a backup role.

No idea. I seem to recall though he was a big reason the Everblades won the Kelly Cup last season.

He was, probably their best player throughout the playoffs. Absolutely no idea why he's struggling this year, but hopefully he is back into close to last years form in the A if not better.

Obviously I have no clue, but attitude and/or focus are easy things to attribute these kinds of numbers to.

A) He plays well in his first year in an A-level pro league.
B) Puts up even better numbers int the AAA-level league.
C) He plays lights out in the post-season of the A-level league.
D) Still buried behind 4 other guys in his second year, plays badly in the A-level league in his second year.
E) Gets a call-up to the AAA-level league and plays lights-out.

Daniels should ride him for a while and see how far he takes the Checkers.

Could be a bad breakdown in defense for Muse in the ECHL.

But he played lights out last year for the Checkers and for the Blades.

Pither just made his debut for Charlotte and scored a goal 9 minutes in.
