According to Geneva coach Chris McSorley, Mike Cammalleri already left Geneva. He was there to get in game shape. But his wife didn't want to come over with their child. So she prohibted him to suit up for Team Canada. I guess she wants to spend christmas at home... So he won't be playing at the Spengler Cup.

I don't know. I guess they had to wait until more games have been cancelled. So I'd say they should announce the roster today?!

According to the swiss newspaper Blick, Jason Demers and Ryan Smyth will also play for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup.

I'm really curious how they'll preform. Because the schedule is pretty rough and the elevation of the arena is 1,560m.

There hasn't been an official roster yet. But these guys have confirmed (by media) that they'll play for Team Canada:

Offense:
Jason Spezza
John Tavares
Tyler Seguin
Patrice Bergeron
Byron Ritchie (SC Bern)
Ryan Smyth
Matt Duchene (?)

Defense:
Geoff Kinrade (SC Bern)
Travis Roche (SC Bern)
Jasom Demers

Goaltender
Jonathan Bernier
Devan Dubnyk

I don't know if Team Canada will add any more locked out players from the NHL or just go with the players from Europe (Kinrade, Roche and Ritchie have been confirmed from their team to join Team Canada).
Michael Del Zotto, Jared Spurgeon, Tyler Ennis, Brooks Laich and Logan Couture also said they'll play for Canada, but they left Europe and I doubt they'll come back (Laich is injured, the others just want to stay at home for chistmas, I guess).

Cory Schneider will play for Fribourg, Patrick Kane will play for HC Davos (along with Joe Thornton, Loui Eriksson, Rafael Diaz and Damien Brunner).

I think they should try Kevin Dallman. The guy is 10+17 after 34 games played and +24 (1st in KHL).

Doesn't KHL play games during those dates?

If Canada can't win it with that team I'd be worried.

I really hope that Conz gets some playing time and they don't give everything to Schneider. Conz is the statistically best goalie in the league atm and just got his 3rd shutout in a row with Fribourg.

And even if Team Canada has lots of NHL power this year, I wouldn't bet for sure on them. Davos looks very very strong too (better defense, nice offense), and they certainly have the better chemistry than Canada. It's gonna be a high quality tournament anyway.

What makes Davos defence better then canada's. HC Davos is made of players who couldn't break into the NHL. Sorry but Swiss cheese scrubs aren't going to beat NHLers. NHL>NLA and its not even close.

I don't think that Davos has the better defence than Canada, but which super awesome NHL defenders are you talking about? Jason Demers and Cam Barker?

vs.

HC Davos:
René Back, Raphael Diaz, Beat Forster, Robin Grossmann, Samuel Guerra, Matthias Joggi, Tim Ramholt, Noah Schneeberger, Jan von Arx

Diaz is also an NHL-defender, Forster could hold down a job on some of the weaker NHL teams, and Grossmann is one of the better Swiss NLA defenders overall. Guerra is a promising prospect, and the others are also really solid by NLA standards, there is no "scrub" on that team. Not everyone who isn't playing in the NHL is a scrub...

The players on Team Canada arent really NHL stars either, I don't follow the teams they come from close enough but I'd say Jason Demers is the best of them?

I'm not a Davos homer as I dislike the club the most of all NLA teams, but I just think it will be closer as many might think.

I think he meant Cam Barker, defensive wunderkind extraordinaire of the Texas Stars.

My (probably terrible) guess at our centre-heavy lines:

Ritchie - Tavares - Spezza
Smyth - Bergeron - Gagner
Micflikier - Seguin - Pouliot
Holden - Duchene - Williams

Colaiacovo - Demers
Kinrade - Noreau
Barker - Dupont

Dubynk
Bernier

Anyone want to have a try? I don't know much about the guys that play in the European league, except that Mcflikier and Pouliot seem to be doing well playing with Seguin and that it looks like Ritchie is playing with Tavares this season.
