I like what I see from Filip Forsberg.

Canada hasn't looked good during this OT. Scheifele's been awful.

A few things we found out in the game:

1. Canada needs to take fewer penalties (looking at you, Dougie).
2. Binnington is our number 1.
3. Our forwards need better chemistry.

Crap I missed this game and the US game if they played one today... How did our prospects do?

Trouba was the standout. As is the usual these days.

meh. I thought his stick skills would be a bit better. Seems to only want to be a shooter, and he's not that great a shooter. Gets involved, but i wouldn't call him a 'high-skill' guy.

No Elias Lindholm in the third. I thought he had played fine the first two periods. Playing the RW, and did fine, imo.

Binnington made a better case than Subban to be Canada's #1 goalie, heading into the tournament. Some very solid saves - especially the glove save late - at key moments.

Looked tired in OT. Had a much better start.

Agreed all around.
Hamilton's style looks like it'll be better suited for the NHL. In the WJC, it's just getting them in trouble.
Binnigton looked much more composed in net than did Subban.
It looks like our forwards, aside from RNH, are getting out-skated. Is it the ice surface?

I know HC wants to go with NHL styled line combos, but they always have MacKinnon / Drouin and Scheifele / Camara in their back pocket. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Yes. I thought he looked really dangerous until about halfway through the game. Then he looked like he was out of gas the rest of the way. A few too many long shifts maybe?

Those guys are all probably having a nap...

Both games are on TSN2 tonight. CAN-SWE is at 6pm CT and USA-FIN follows at 8:30pm CT.

Trouba looked good - as usual, he delivered a couple of really heavy hits, including one to Barkov.

The top flight forwards that the Jets passed on won't be very effective when Trouba knocks them out of games.

Got an assist and really should have had two. Refs robbed USA of a goal.

Sad that Spott is already taking shots at officiating. His team is not playing well, Binnington really saved a game that probably should have been a 2-3 goal win for Sweden. While Jenner's hit didn't warrant a game misconduct, he charged a guy on the opposite side of the ice from the puck and hit the guy when he wasn't expecting it, because the puck was nowhere near him. Not a legal hit on any continent and incredibly stupid from a guy with international experience.

I am cool with that kind of garbage resulting in misconducts and / or suspensions on any continent. It doesn't need to be in the game.

Scheiflie's skating is going to hold him back. Just not good enough.

I thought from another angle it showed that the Swede had just passed off the puck before Jenner nailed him.

He just doesn't look quick and the sad part is the other guys are far from NHL'ers he's playing against.

Despite the penalties I still think Hamilton will be great in this tournament and will eventually be great in the NHL. Nothing against Scheifele but I'm still mad the Jets passed on Hamilton.

I was very disappointed in RNH and Spott getting worked up over the refereeing. Neither one showed any leadership.

His top end speed speed isn't bad, but it takes him a while to get there.

Agree, truck.

Once he gets going, he's fine. The only guy that seems to fly is Mackinnon. That kid has acceleration to burn.

Imo, Scheifele only looked sluggish later in the 3rd, and specifically, the OT period. Shorter shifts would help.

Haven't seen him in a game since the WJC last year and my memory was foggy as to why I liked him so much at that time.

I was 6 minutes into watching him last night and he had already blown up a Fin on a clean hard hit, he had jumped in to join a US shortanded 2 on 1 rush, shown very good D zone coverage, as well as executing a nice breakout stretch pass. The thing that jumps out at me right away is his skating, unlike Mark who is still developing in this area, Jacob is already an elite skater. Jacob is also quite aggressive in all aspects of his game including transitional first passes and offensive instincts like pinching and joining the rush.

Flat out this was a great draft pick.
