Kennedy comments were to no one in particular, just saying in scenario where:
a) bring in big offensive talent guy but expensive
b) ship Martin to offset expense
c) ship someone else who makes around $2M out or we lose Letang
...making TK that guy is not a bad move at all. Certainly wiser than swapping out Kunitz, Dupuis or Cooke, all of whom are more valuable to this team than Kennedy.
what about malone for martin? i remember over the summer there was a good amount of pens and lighting fans who thought it would be a good deal.
Personally, I wouldn't do that. I was never a big Malone fan, and I don't think the Lightning would be interested in Martin now that they have signed Carle and Salo.
I'm not really interested in Malone but AFA TB's D go, Salo is one of the most injury prone players I've ever seen. He's no insurance to them by any means.
With serious concussion issues. We don't need anymore star players on LTIR.
I don't count missing half a season as having serious concussion issues. Sid missed nearly a season and a half, but no one had an issue when we re-signed him to a 12 year deal.
One of the reasons why I brought up Kennedy as trade bait is that he's small and was ineffective against bigger teams like the Flyers last year. After we got destroyed by the Flyers last year, Shero publicly stated that one of his goals during the offseason was to add size to the line-up. Kennedy is the first player I thought of given that although he plays a feisty game, he's still small and weak. He seems to be play best as a 3rd liner and I just think that he can easily be replaced by Tangradi on the 3rd line who is younger, bigger, and cheaper (even though he's a little unproven). He'd actually fit quite well in Nashville...
Pens trade Martin, Kennedy and Despres
Preds trade Wilson and Watson
Would that work, or more on which side? Preds get a replacement for Suter, a decent 2nd-3rd line winger and a top D prospect that is NHL ready. Pens get a young center/winger and a very good center prospect. My other highdea was:
Pens trade Morrow, Lovejoy and Kennedy
Bruins trade Horton
That one is interesting. Bruins get 2 depth players (which isn't bad) and a top D prospect that will replace Chara once he retires (and make a nasty pair with Hamilton, IMO). They also get some much needed salary cap relief. Pens get a younger winger for Crosby.
Horton is a UFA this summer... and is prone to concussions...

Wouldn't mind the Preds trade but a big no for Horton. Shoulder problems in the past in Florida and now concussions for 2 consecutive seasons and like someone else mentioned he will be a UFA next summer if we want him that bad I wouldn't trade for him assets that can help us going forward and just take a chance to sign him on July 1st
I could not possibly trade Morrow for a guy like Horton right now. Morrow is a keeper...especially if we are getting rid of Despres. And truthfully, I don't want to move Morrow short of a huge overpayment. I really want to see Morrow develop.
This Craig Smith? I do like Smith though. Good size and offensive instincts wouldn't mind the Pens trying to trade for him, but Wilson is my first choice.
Having the Two-Headed Monster tearing up the KHL would be pretty ****ing sick indeed.
As soon as the season gets canceled, expect Crosby to sign in Mettalurg. Then have Sid convince Kulimen to demand a trade to Pittsburgh. Make him hold out and refuse to play until he is traded to Pitt so we can get him for literally nothing
No comment... perhaps they'd take Martin in a package deal involving Gonchar who has a shorter contract (+ Puempel)?
Remember, for this next NHL season, the cap will be set at $70 million. Let me rephrase that, you can have as much as $70 million, but the cap will be around $60. Pens bring in Gonch, then either let him go or sign him for less. Win-win. And we could get him cheap also. And this quote sums it up why:
"One way or another, he’s going to land back with the Penguins. He’ll either go in a trade before he becomes a UFA or sign there in the off-season. The Senators may be well-served to at least get something for him."
