It was public for years before they moved to Newark that they wanted to go back to the City.

Newark was never a permanent solution and they made it abundantly clear. In addition to removing all "New Jersey" aspects from your jersey and court, you insult the fans you still had.

I'm a Nets fan still. I wear my red NJ jersey all the time. I'm from Brooklyn though... So I love that they're in my home city now too. But eh.

My comments pertain to their time in Continental too. After that two year stretch of being championship caliber team, no one went to Nets games.

Brook Lopez hasn't been the same since injuring his foot. Consequently, the Nets haven't been the same team.

They've also had a physically demanding schedule. So many back to backs and 5-game weeks.

Easy to get wrapped up in what the Knicks are doing and vote Melo for MVP, but Durant has been better in every facet.

I'd argue that Westbrook hurts Durant more than he helps, statistically. Westbrook actually takes more shots than Durant.

Durant is miles ahead of Carmelo defensively too.

I'm completely shocked that teams don't attack Carmelo on the interior. Boggles my mind. Beat him up down low, get him into foul trouble. Probably going to get a lot of points out of it too since he's not good on D. Knicks are just very good at getting opposition to join the 3 point contest, which is a game the Knicks will not lose.

the Knicks defense is actually improved tenfold from last year.

and opponents shoot 36.9% from 3 against them, which is actually like 7th worst in the NBA

Right. Teams try to outscore the Knicks, playing to their pace. It's not going to happen.

I still think you gotta attack Carmelo. He's the weakest link on D. Getting him into foul trouble is the only way to stop his offense right now.

by 7th worst, I mean only ~6 teams have shot better

meaning taems hit the three against them.

KD is my favorite player in the league, but right now, I think it is extremely close between him and Melo for MVP.

First of all, to say KD's defense is miles ahead of Melo's isn't true. Watching Durant play defense in the finals last year was hard at times. Granted, it has improved since last season, but so has Melo's. He is still better than Melo defensively, but not by miles.

Second, having Westbrook does help Durant in some aspects because he doesn't get double teamed nearly as much and it takes some of the scoring pressure off of him as well. A lot of the time Melo is the only Knick on the floor who can make a basket with any regularity. Therefore he gets double teamed every time he touches the ball, yet is still able to score.

We stopped going to the games when Ratner first announced he wanted to move the team and traded everyone away to save money. Even though that fell through, they made it very clear they still wanted out of New Jersey and that it was going to happen - just not as soon as they wanted.

They were a lame duck. Why waste my money on them? I still watched games on TV but then I pretty much lost interest in the NBA. The only time the NBA has really caught my interest like that since then was Mavs vs Heat when I was rooting for Kidd to get his championship.

Because it pretty much happened right after that...

After the two year stretch, they had the one good year (that could have been another run to the championship) but Zo had the kidney problems and Kidd played the Pistons on one knee.

During the 03-04 season Corzine (I think?) tried making a bid to buy the team, and Ratner won with the sole intention of moving them to Brooklyn for his project. So they were a lame duck in Continental too...right after that two year stretch. Then in that off season Ratner dismantled the team to save money.

True. He does usually do that. I often stop reading the posts by that point, so it slipped my mind.

He's like a whole new player, at least his perspective and attitude it seems. I liked him on Syracuse and he's become likable again.

But you know Amar'e is going to come back and wreck everything

DaMarcus Cousins reportedly wants out of Sacramento. Bulls are interested but are pressed to the cap. Nets have shown heavy interest in the past. Marshon Brooks + a couple 1st rounders?

Yeah, 2013, 15, and 17 are still available.

Cousins is a solid player but he's one of the biggest headcases in the league.

Why do you think it`s any different from being a Devils and a NY Mets/NY Yankees/Knicks/Giants/Jets fan at the same time?

So those two football teams play in NJ, big deal. Plus there`s a lot of Eagles fans in here too.

If I wanted to be an ass I`d say that those teams are at least somewhat local. Green Bay Packers are not.

pretty much every good friend ive ever had is a sports fan. I have never known a single person who is a rangers and nets fan. Its just a strange combo.

I usually mention this to someone every once in a while but the ny/nj teams fans most often align like this for some reason:

yankees/giants/devils/nets
mets/jets/rangers/knicks

obviously there are overlaps and exceptions, but thats how i see it personally. Aside from the basketball teams, you have the winning teams together and the losing teams together.
