I was thinking if the Cubs traded Garza for Olt and a good pitching prospect, then trade any of the following having good years (hopefully all) Villanueva, Feldman, Baker, Schierholtz, keep Olt, package the rest together, that's probably going to produce a very attractive package for Stanton. You can basically get Stanton for nothing. I hope that is part of the plan, converting the returns into a huge package for one excellent young player. Why wouldn't you do that? Just look at a guy like Vizcaino, get 3 or 4 more guys like that back in trade, put them all together and you are there. Plus, they already know what/who Florida wants so they already have the blueprint.
Garza plus Soriano and/or Marmol (we pay most of salary) for Olt and Perez
Baker and Villanueva and/or Schierholtz for Gary Sanchez (NYY)
Add some of our own guys
P Martin Perez (#31 in top 100)
P Aroldys Vizcaino (#40 in top 100)
OF Matt Szczur (#64 in top 100)
C Gary Sanchez (#81 in top 100)
1B Dan Vogelbach
You don't think they would take that?
No chance. They can get a lot better than that. None of those guys are elite prospects. Bauer was the #9 prospect and just got traded for Shin-Soo Choo. James Shields just was traded for Will Meyers (#28) and Jake Odorizzi (#68). Stanton is probably one of the 10 most valuable players in baseball right now. It would take a kings ransom to get him out of Miami.
Love would be a lot more than Boozer+. He's one of the best PFs in the game and would be a great fit with Rose. Plus having Noah and Love as the 4 and 5 would be pretty intimidating. I don't think the Bulls are good enough to beat the Heat and a guy like Love could be what they need.
