How are the Czechs this year? Better than last year?
Offensively they're far better. The defense is still centered around Musil so they should be fine. Goaltending is downgraded, but more depth at the position so they should be fine.
I expect a quarter finals birth. They shouldn't have a problem with Switzerland or Latvia and could upset Sweden and Finland.

Offensively it's a very capable team, but I'm really worried about the defense. Only Musil, Hrbas and Pavelka have some qualities to face the swedish or finnish forwards, I think.

The others should be capable enough with Musil eating up 25+ minutes per game.
Interesting team. This offense can definitely put up numbers. I originally picked them to be a surprise bronze medalist.. however I definitely over looked the fins. I still think this team is very capable of a quarter final upset.
Of course, Musil is the key defender and shall spend perhaps 25-30 minutes on ice. His excellent performance would be the way for his team.
It'll have to be. Their defense is average without him. Would have been nice to have the punishing Nedomlel in the lineup to keep the other teams honest.
Captain: Lukas Sedlak
A: Tomas Hertl
A: David Musil
Is that official?
I'm kinda shocked that Musil isn't captain, but I've heard that Sedlak is a good leader and has served as captain before. Had a feeling that Hertl would get an A. Seems like such an energetic, talented player.

Yes, that is official.
Remember, that Sedlak was a captain at WJC U-18 in 2011
Machovsky will starting goalie, same as in 2011 first game against Sweden, when he destroyed swedish snipers (around 50 saves) and We won 2-1.
they suck so much Musil lol, Machovsky didn't save anything, forwards hahaha
I won't be surprised if we'll relegate ...
They may not have played very well, but be realistic. There is literally no chance that this team is relegated. You think that they can't handle Latvia, Germany, Slovakia and Switzerland? Give the team a chance to get some chemistry going. Sweden (although decimated with injuries) is a good team and the Czech's would have to have been very lucky to beat them.
This team can reailistically finish second in their division. A hard fought win against Finland is possible and this team should beat Switzerland and Latvia. They won't be relegated or likely even see the relegation round.
If we hadn't taken so many stupid penalties then the game would have been a lot closer.
I don't think we played that badly, but we were very sloppy and made mistakes we shouldn't have (probably as a result of nervousness and over-excitement). We can definitely play better. Despite the fact that Sweden won, I wasn't really impressed with them that much today, they had a lot of sloppy passes. They looked beatable. They don't seem as strong this year compared to previous years.
I didn't like Machovsky at all. He looked weak. Defense wasn't great (then again it never is), our forwards need to find some chemistry. More team play would help as well.
thx, we will see what is a plan of Prerost and co. Good luck against Swedes.
Prerost and plan? Have you ever seen Prerost having plan?
Czech team is much better than Slovakian on paper and there is only a few players from Slovakian team I would like to see on Czech team. But I would love to have Bokros on our bench, he has real game plan. With Bokros on Czech bench we would be really dangerous for favorites.

Well, hopefully SZĽH people have enough sense not to let you guys poach him
But, I was really negatively surprised by Czech performance today just as I was positively surprised by the Slovak one.
