Better Goalie Duo Round 1(#4 Luongo/Schneider vs #5 Halak/Elliot)
Rules:vote for which goalie duo you would rather have for one season.
Note: please just vote for whichever duo u would rather have because of the way they play. Don't bring up anything about off ice activities or things that don't really relate

I'd like to see Halak/Elliot put up those numbers playing the Canucks style of game, not trapping under Hitchcock (not that trapping is a bad thing, but it tends to inflate goalie stats).
I guess Luongo, and Schneider as much as I don't like Lu. Schneider is way better than Elliott who is massively overrated because of last season, and I feel Luongo is still above Halak, but Halak is really good, and could get up there in no time.

Yes this is how I'd put it. Schneider is great, but I think his numbers as far as save percentage would go down slightly if he were an everyday starter. Not down a lot, but maybe closer to 920 or in the 920s rather than the 930s.
How do people say either Luongo or Schneider is better than Halak? Luongo has a Gold, yes, but it was more because of the team in front of him than it was him. Look at his playoff history. He seems to get rattled easily and tends to be shaky in the net. Schneider hasn't really done much up to this point either. He hasn't won a playoff series and only played in what, 3 playoff games? (2 last year and one in relief a couple years ago against Chicago where he ended up getting hurt and Lu had to go back in)
Halak on the other hand, played incredible for Montreal and stole the starting position from Price and beat the top two teams in the East that year. (I understand Schneider stole his position as well but that was just as much Luongo playing bad) He also played really well in the Olympics for Slovakia in 2010 and almost helped them beat the Canadians.

Voted Canucks tandem. St. Louis' tandem is an integral part of their ironclad defense, but the whole system does inflate their numbers.
Luongo>Halak>Schneider>Elliott
FTFY.
As of now, I agree. I HATE the Canucks, but if Schneids comes anywhere near his potential, he'll overtake Halak. Hence I'm a little jealous of the Canucks haha.

I don't understand how anyone can have Halak ahead of Luongo. What has Halak ever done? You talk about how Halak stole the starting position from Carey Price? And then go on to say that Schneider took the job from Luongo but that's because Luongo was playing bad? You couldn't be more misinformed based off those two statements. Price was playing like garbage so Halak benefitted, and ended up taking the ball and running with it. Meanwhile, Luongo was the only player to show up for games 1 and 2 of the Kings series, and Schneider was only put in to shake up the team. Luongo also took a team with an injured defense and no offense whatsoever to game 7 of the SCF in 2011, so don't give me this crap about Luongo looking shakey and blah blah blah. Luongo has done more in the playoffs than Halak, he's done more than Miller and more than Lundqvist and Rinne, yet he doesn't get the same respect. Apparently a bad defense is a good excuse for Lundqvist to use, but when Luongo has a defense that's completely ravaged by injuries it's still all on Luongo.
Disgusting.

What do you expect? When it comes to Luongo on main boards Logic is all but lost.
