Nick Schultz + Paajarvi + Omark package?

What can Edmonton get for a package of Nick Schultz, Magnus Paajarvi and Linus Omark?

What would the Oilers be seeking for just Schultz? no interest in the latter 2.

Depends on what type of players the Oilers are looking for.... prospects? forwards? defencemen? goaltenders? and what type of that they're looking for. Or is it an auction for picks?

Ugh, just came from a similar Leafs thread. The difference being some players of value were in the package so it was possible to think of a team lacking those pieces. This really can't get you anything you want because no team wants all 3 players - there are just too many question marks around these guys.

Pajaarvi is a very good prospect, who had a solid rookie year and didn`t have a spot last year. He`ll be a very good player for someone, whether or not that is the Oilers remains to be seen. Omark is worthless.

For the Oilers, the only way making a N. Schultz + Pajaarvi deal would make any sense would be for a similar player to Schultz, who is an upgrade. Or possibly a 2nd line center, but that's probably not available at all.

He may be a good prospect... that doesn't mean that my team would be in any type of position to convert him into anything other than a former top prospect who's now a total bust.

Nyqvist +Kindl for N.Schultz, Paajarvi and Omark.

This deal works for both teams.

Kindl would provide some grit on the Oilers blueline that only Smid has been providing. Peckham can be atrocious at times.

Gustav is smaller than Paajarvi but his hockey IQ would mesh well with the Oiler's core. Both are defensively responsible but I would imagine a 3rd line with both Helm and Paajarvi would be ridiculous.

Omark clearly does not want to be a part of the Oiler's organization. But he seems to be showing a ton of chemistry with Zetterberg. He could provide some youth in the top 6, as well as some insane shootouts with him and Datsyuk in the line up.

Schultz helps to fill a major hole left in Detroit's blue line. He is no Lidstrom but he is very defensively responsible.

I think any team would take Pajaarvi. But most teams currently would not give up much to get him except maybe a prospect in a similar position or a depth player. He's worth far more to the oilers then any team would be willing to give for him.

Detroit would have to add some value. Nyqvist may be a good prospect but he's like 23. The structure itself is pretty good, but I think if Detroit adds a first, the value is pretty close. Not sure if Kindl is appealing to EDM though.

Its way too early to even have bust discussions regarding Pajaarvi. Way too early.

Paajarvi for Volchenkov.

Kadri is 6 months older and HFBoards has already anointed him a bust.

So far him and MPS have had similar career paths...

Way too early? Yeah right. He's almost there. The guy is 21 years old and a former 9th overall pick. He's had ample opportunity to play in the NHL, and as of right now, if there was a season, it's questionable as to whether or not he would be on one of the worst teams in the league.

Without a doubt, if he's going to be anything but a bust, he needs to play in the NHL as soon as it resumes. Toronto wouldn't be in a position to do that, so all they'd be doing is trading for a future bust.

Neither one is a bust. Both are still young and capable of being effective second liners, most likely a second/third line tweener type guy. Paajarvi will become a speedier Zubrus with potentially more offense, and Kadri will become like a Filpulla type player, maybe a bit less offense.

Both may be a bit overrated within their teams, but they are definitely both underrated outside of their teams' fans.

From the looks of things MPS is going to be a solid 3rd line+ which has a developed a physical game. Made a monster hit the other day, not much of a chance of him being traded.

Nick Schultz supplies the veteran help on D, great leader and solid 2nd pairing D for the Oilers. For a team in need of veteran D help, why would they want to trade him away.

Omark's days are numbered in Edmonton, but he has been playing well with Zug with Henrik Zetterberg and is scoring 1.5pts per game. He should get the Oilers a 3rd or 4th.

Just give Paajarvi to the Devils for Volchenkov.

Are you kidding? If I'm Detroit, I don't touch that proposal. I wouldn't trade Nyquist alone for that package.

Volchenkov has a NTC, and what it sounds like he like's the Devils. Besides the Oilers are full up on the left side on D with Smid, Schultz, and Klefbom next year. The also have a couple more coming up in Musil and Marincin.

Not interested in Volchenkov and he's not worth MPS, the devils would have to add if they wanted to pry him out of Edmonton.

Way to contribute some logical thought to the argument.

Don't worry the Oilers would have no interest in Nyquist and Kindle.

Omark is a bust in the NHL, Paajarvi is probably a 3rd liner at best, and Schultz is a bottom pairing defenseman. Ask a Wings fan if they're interested in giving up their best forward prospect for them.

There is no chance is hell Edmonton is trading Nick Schultz unless it is for a better defenceman.

There are a couple of huge differences.

First, Kadri has never shown that he can be anything more than a top six forward, or that he has anything more than pure offense to his game. Pajaarvi has shown that he can be a solid two way player as a pro, in the NHL.

Second, Pajaarvi had a very good rookie year. Kadri hasn't been much at the NHL level. At most, you could say Pajaarvi had a horrific sophomore slump. Thats all.

And even if he hadn't made the NHL this year, who cares, one more year in the AHL working on his offense would do nothing but help his career, despite your off the wall claims.
