Just lost my fantasy football championship with that Marshawn run
Lost to the team that had Peyton, Megatron, Roddy White, Marshawn, and Frank Gore. I had a good week, but clearly not good enough. Oh well. The old me would be more upset over this. I'm getting soft.
Both very good answers but my family is making me so I'll probably have to get sick or say I'm going with my friend, then just go and do something else.

I won my keeper league championship today! Calvin and Dez did most of my heavy lifting. It's the league I spend most of my time on, what a great season.
What's the best way to get out of going to church?
I mean zero disrespect when I ask this, I am legit curious .... How is asking how to get out of going to church a "guess what moment"?
And to answer your question... Tell them flat out, I respect your beliefs but I am old enough to have my own beliefs and decisions and mine don't align with yours.

Well I was gonna say I have a question, but I wanted to get to the good stuff.

That's assuming the respect will be mutual. That could be an easy way to get kicked out of the house, disowned, or worse, have Christmas presents withheld. Definitely an option, though.
I've been in the same tricky situation, and sometimes it's best suck it up for an hour, zone out/meditate/practice mental long division and keep people happy around the holidays. If it's boring and uncomfortable and doesn't resonate with you, at least you can feel like you're making yourself mentally tough.

Probably gonna do that. I never mean to offend anyone it's just that well...I'm old enough to choose my beliefs

True. It looks like eventually, you'll need to have that conversation with your family. But do it after the new year. And let the chips fall where they may. Their reaction will tell you a lot about how they view you in your maturity and ability to make good decisions. And that may be another conversation

I'll just say my New Years resolution is to not... Do that worship thing a whole lot.
I think, since you initially outlined the question as getting out of church rather than getting out of a belief set, that perhaps outlining that you don't need church to have beliefs might work in your favor.
I don't know that I know enough about where you're coming from or where you're headed to say though.
I went through a similar dilemma when I went off to college, and the distance and simply not being home helped keep the church visits at bay. My parents, mainly my mother, were pretty respectful and cognizant of the fact that I had become an adult, but unfortunately not all parents are that way. I find certain church services entertaining and at times endearing, even though they do nothing for me in terms of religious beliefs. The lit candles on Christmas are quite nice.

Aren't you in college? What's the point of lying when you're an adult that can make your own decisions?
If you don't want to tell your parents because they'll take something away, then apparently you're not ready to be an independent adult.
This is 2012, learn how to stand up for what you believe in (or don't believe in).

Well the fact that my family is heavy into that and I'm having a terrible time finding a job makes it hard. It's not like I never brought it up before either. Criminally pretty much put it spot on. I never thought huge services were an importance. Live and let live. . Oh well. Merry Christmas everyone. I hope all goes well for Everyone.
A good friend of mine used to live in that area, on what used to be an old game farm.
I hadthe same question as you did. What the **** is wrong with people today?
