I'm thinking Sangs might not be a bad option. The best free agent available is Kyle Cumiskey, who is a 74, which is what Bobby is, tho Bobby hits a bit harder and is more aggressive but has a tad less accuracy on his shots. Those are the only differences.

The only bottom pair Dmen available on trade blocks are older guys on 1 way contracts. ie Souray, Aucoin, Hamrlik, Gill etc who, while substantially better, come at a higher price tag. Sangs is 750k I believe.

And lastly, Minny just put Saku Koivu on waivers. His contract is 3.8m for one year. If we pick him up, our cap space would fall to 0.765M (this takes into account sending Brent down), but, hypothetically, as our 4th line 'C', he is superior to Tim Brent is every way except age (especially faceoffs: 84 compared to Brent's 76). And we could also waive Ivanans to free up another 600k.

Should we pick him up? Yay, Nay? I'll tally votes when I get home from work tonite and go from there. My vote would be for a yes, there're always ways around cap space and as this seems to be a cup-or-bust year, I'll take any upgrade I can get

Go ahead. Then waive Ivanans like you said. Worry about cap space for next year later.

One thing I just noticed is Brent is one a 1-way (thought he was a 2-way) so we'd risk losing him sending him down, but as much as I like him, depth forwards like that are a dime a dozen I suppose.

So, Koivu is our new 4th line Center. I sent down Brent and Ivanans to free up necessary cap space to fit Koivu's 3.8m. Brent was claimed by the Wild and Ivanans cleared.

That's funny that Minnesota claimed Brent, essentially we just traded Brent for Koivu. Though if it's still Bowman and Dwyer playing fourth line wings I might have sent Bowman down and moved Brent to the wing... course I don't know how this season is going as well as you do, I just have a soft spot for Brent I guess.

ya, I like him to. We could always easily trade back for him at the deadline or something for depth.

How did Minny get Saku Koivu? I thought Mikko played for them, and Saku played for the ducks.

trade I missed at the start of the year I assume. Or the Ducks waived him early. Thats the one thing I hate the most about the NHL games is it doesnt give u alerts to trades and stuff and unless you go day by day, you miss things all the time.

Yeah I know what you mean. In my be a GM, Pittsburgh has Ryan Smyth, Buffalo has Shane Done, Detroit has Alfredsson and Gonchar, and Minny has Marty St. Louis.
