Oh look, Red Sox are going after a high price free agent. Cue the Yankees to kick the tires and ramp up the price.

UT having the same problem UK had before Rich Brooks was hired... but that ended up really good for UK so maybe UT will end up with a steal....

They traded excess pitching and got an amazing return. Price/Hellickson/Moore/Archer/Cobb is still a good rotation and Myers is an elite hitting prospect and Odorizzi and Montgomery are really good pitching prospects.

I love that deal for the Rays. Cycle out older, expensive excess pitching for potentially elite young talent.

Big East basketball schools going bye-bye

The question is whether they form a new conference or dissolve the Big East, keep the name, and start fresh? Either way, it puts the incoming Conference-USA schools in a real bind.

They're joining Butler and Xavier to make a basketball only conference.

Is that official? I've seen it bandied about, but nothing actually concrete. I've also heard Dayton, Creighton, Saint Louis and VCU.

Ok doing the stats and asking myself 'What do the Yankees have after Nix for infield depth?'

Like to thank Rothlesberger for carping the bed to help me in fantasy.

Is better, da?

Seattle is absolutely dismantling San Francisco right now. I have to be honest, I am on the Seahawks' bandwagon after tonight.

this was what i was talking about. titans are absolutely garbage.. and will beat horrible teams like the jets and move down 5 spots in the draft every year. too bad they finish with the jaguars.. thats another win against a sorry opponent. every year.

They lost to the Jaguars earlier this year. Anything is possible in Week 17.

Also, the Titans' .375 win percentage if they do beat Jacksonville is nowhere close to .500. The season would have to be extended by an extra month for them to even reach .500, and that's assuming they win those games.

Munchak's days are numbered. He might get a chance to shuffle his staff around, but I'm not convinced that he's an NFL head coach. Locker has another year, and then I'd draft another quarterback.

you should have just asked....

the 25 man roster should look close to this while A-Rod is on the shelf. Also Michael Pineda should be ready in June too.

Projected Lineup

1 RF Ichiro Suzuki
2 SS Derek Jeter
3 2B Robinson Cano
4 1B Mark Teixeira
5 CF Curtis Granderson
6 3B Kevin Youkilis
7 DH Eduardo Nuñez
8 LF Brett Gardner
9 C Austin Romine

Projected Bench
C Chris Stewart
IF/OF Ronnier Mustelier
IF/OF Jayson Nix
OF Chris Dickerson

Projected Starting Rotation
1 LHP CC Sabathia
2 RHP Hiroki Kuroda
3 LHP Andy Pettitte
4 RHP Phil Hughes
5 RHP Ivan Nova

Projected Bullpen
CL RHP Mariano Rivera
SU RHP David Robertson
SU LHP Boone Logan
MID RHP Joba Chamberlain
MID RHP David Aardsma
MID LHP Clay Rapada
LR RHP David Phelps

and because I like ya, here is Boston's

1 CF Jacoby Ellsbury
2 RF Shane Victorino
3 2B Dustin Pedroia
4 DH David Ortiz
5 1B Mike Napoli
6 3B Will Middlebrooks
7 SS Stephen Drew
8 LF Jonny Gomes
9 C Jarrod Saltalamacchia vs RHP

Projected Bench
C David Ross vs LHP
1B/3B Mauro Gomez
IF Pedro Ciriaco
OF Daniel Nava

Projected Starting Rotation
1 LHP Jon Lester
2 RHP Ryan Dempster
3 RHP Clay Buchholz
4 LHP Felix Doubront
5 RHP John Lackey

Projected Bullpen
CL RHP Andrew Bailey
SU RHP Koji Uehara
SU LHP Andrew Miller
MID RHP Junichi Tazawa
MID LHP Franklin Morales
MID LHP Craig Breslow

Now, they are supposed to be trading for Hanharan from Pittsburgh, which I think would bump Breslow or Miller to AAA.

As a Pirates fan I have to ask, are any of those players even worth anything? Because every player we acquire in these kinds of trades either never amount to crap or get injured and need all kinds of surgery to repair something.

Melancon can be a very good reliever, Stomey is a prospect starter, currently reliever for Pawtucket, Sands is the prize, the best piece of the 'Trade the GDP of a small Pacific nation' the Red Sox got from the Dodgers.

Jerry Sands has a swing theat MLB pitchers will eat up. A big uppercut swing. The prize of the deal was Rubby De La Rosa. Kid has a live arm.
