I think he's developing nicely into a top-4, defensive, PK guy.

That was a far dream that we could replace Brad Stuart internally.

But if Lashoff is doing well... Could that be possible?

Judging by this season it's possible, but maybe more realistically a solid bottom pair guy. I've grown both on his chances and Almqvist's. He's been good consistently. Plays hard but with discipline. He needs to keep working on his first pass although his puck moving skills are decent already.

In the AHL. His ceiling in the NHL would be bottom pairing

I would be extremely happy with bottom pairing guy with 1st PK ability.

I don't know about that, I think he's capable of stepping up his game.

We'll just have to wait and see, eh?

Considering what he's done so far, it'd be a huge step up for him to get to be a regular in the Detroit defensive line-up

Well, this is only his 3rd full season with the Griffins, and the 1st one was injury-riddled.

That being said, I'm a big Lashoff fan, and I'm really eager to see what he can do given a shot in Detroit.

Never been a big Lashoff fan, although I must admit he has impressed me quite a bit this season.

I have always seen him more as the long time AHL captain that gets a couple shots at the NHL. He has good leadership qualities according to a lot of people that cover the team. I thought like a Nolan Yonkman, Scott Ford or that type of player. I hope he makes the NHL and I give him a better chance right now but I still wonder if he doesn't become an anchor captain type in the AHL. Not what a lot of people hope for but not anything to sneeze at, not everyone makes it.

One of the prime reasons GRG is winning is due to all the defensemen (& both goalies) doing a better job of keeping the puck out of the net. Last year GRG could score and they are still scoring this year but the D is doing well - Lashoff, Smith & co

Looks like Glendenning is staying in GR, Raedeke, Nes,NiC down to toledo

They played Toronto tonight who were missing Gardiner and Kadri and won 3-2 in shootout. Mrazek played well, gave up a breakaway and a penalty shot goal but only gave up one in the shootout, though he was helped by two posts. I thought Smith was the best player on the ice and scored a pretty nice PP goal, but he was the one to concede the penalty shot. Nyquist was solid and created some chances and had a nice spin move goal in the shootout, Tatar played well but Scrivens robbed him a couple times.

Almquist surprised me with how solid he looked in his own zone and Lashoff was good defensively but really needs to work on his puck handling. Outside of the goal Sheahan wasn't all that impressive, and Jurco didn't play

Sheahan has really stepped it up a lot of people had said they would be happy to see him with 30 pts this season. and if he plays like he has in December he should. what surprises me is that Sheahan is putting it in the net, and Jurco isnt. when Jurco is the better offensive player.

Nyquist will make everyone forget about Todd Bertuzzi

-Sheahan had an impressive PP goal, walked in unnoticed and Paetsch fed him a nice pass with a man draped all over him.

-Dang refs would have let them get away with bloody murder tonight. I don't think a single tripping penalty was called

-Brendan Smith- My goodness that laser shot was a beauty...

-Paetsch also passed the puck to a gaggle of Marlies... WTC

-I missed the first Marlie goal. It was a one-on-one play and I think it was Blackon or whatever who just flat out beat the defender who was all over him.

-Mrazek got bowled over and somehow Smith got a ruffing penalty out of it. I must have missed it, though. I didn't see Smith punk anyone.

-Blashill's year with Babcock is doing wonders for this team. They looked like a younger Red Wings squad. The Puck control was there. It was very nice to see competent special teams play. The PK was brilliant.

-Tatar passed the puck between some Marlie's leg as he was looking elsewhere... It was amusing to me. He's got a good eye for passing lanes. Made some decent passes.

-I thought lack of Jurco would have killed the team in the shootout... Guess I was wrong.

-Billins really impressed me. Just overall a solid night.

-Griffins won a lot of draws until late in the game when the Marlies started winning everything in the last 3 minutes of the game.

-Glendening bowled a guy over with a hip check

-This team is playing with some swagger and a lot of things are just going the Griffins's way. Mrazek had a couple of shots go off the pipe for him and he was very good. About as good as advertised.

-Kadri was a scratch tonight... I wondered out loud why...

Thanks to the Youtube highlights... Lashoff was the one that got flat out beat on that first goal...

Edit: I wish I could see the replay on the penalty shot call... Lot of us didn't think it was a penalty shot.... 'Course we were just biased fans... The griffin just blew a tire and the guy carrying the puck tripped over him in front of the net.
