I qualified my statement by saying IF those two games and his start to this season are a reflection of his play.

I stand by it. Can't tell you he'll keep it up, but this player has probably played better than Ceci has this year. And ya I have no idea how even the Habs let Hudon slip to round 5. Not to say he's a better prospect than Ceci, but he's played like a 1st rounder thus far.

He was alright in the USA vs Sweden game. I mean hell, I wouldn't trade the Flyers 2012 3rd round pick, dman Shayne Gostisbehere (who scored the game winning in OT for the USA in that same pre-comp game) for him.

He's progressing very good by all indications, and that's great. But to say that he should have been a 1st round 6 months after he was a half round from being undrafted is a pretty homer comment. Just sayin'.
I said if his play thus far is a true representation of his ability. It may not be.

He's taking a run at OEL's post draft numbers in the Allsvenskan. I'm not saying he's a #1 Dman type of prospect like OEL, just saying he's going after a #1 Dman's post-draft production in the same league. OEL was younger.

By all accounts, Wikstrand's been as impressive as his numbers indicate.

What I'm trying to say is, I wouldn't bat an eye if I knew nothing about this guy and someone told me he was a 1st rounder. I'd have no issues beleiving that based on what I've seen. You can't make conclusions based on this stuff, but it's the standard of play on which I'll monitor him every time I see him play.

If his play declines, I won't consider myself wrong...I'll just know that the first two times I watched him play weren't a good reflection of his play. I'm not making any conclusions, I'm not saying all NHL teams made a mistake 6 times over on this guy. I'm saying if he keeps playing like that and developing from this on a normal curve, they may well have.

What a curve for this guy.
What are you talking about?
He's not "called up" anywhere.

I could be wrong but I think he just misworded his thoughts. Wikstrand has a contract in the SEL for next season they were saying on the Sens board so thats likely what he was talkin about.

I have to admit, I am over the moon by his progression this season. He's definately getting much more attention because of the WJC, so posters on the Sens board are now finally really pumping his tires, but hard not too. He's been terrific.

If he continues to improve and progress, a top 4 spot isn't out of the question.

If the draft were redone tomorrow Wikstrand would be in the mix to go first overall.

He's been a gem in the first two games. Great mobility on the point and some nice head fakes. His positioning on the point could be better though in terms of angling himself. He's really surprised me at how good he actually is, he's getting 1st unit powerplay time over Hampus Lindholm. He's fairly solid on both ends of the ice, good skater and puckmover.

Played great on both ends today, looking a lot like Erik Karlsson with slick passes and good job on the pp.

Yeah, I really don't see why we can't speak positively about him without these first round comments, it does look pretty damn homerish. And unnecessary, do Sens fans really give a **** where he should have been drafted? That's hf mentality at it's best. bragging about prospects for no reason and unnecessary accolades.

Great prospect, excited as hell for him to make the jump.

Or someday when he's skating among other 1st rounders from his draft class in the NHL you don't have to lie when you say you saw it coming. I haven't concluded anything, just that over the first 3 games he's played, he's been as impressive as you'd want a 1st rounder to be.

And homerish? I've pumped other teams prospects the same way.

Lets avoid the generalizations. Nothing wrong with being a homer if you end up justified. I've made accurate calls against our own prospects.

The Vikstrand/Wikstrand thing is true. Here is what the6thesens wrote on it (after they interviewed him in this article in June 2012):

http://www.the6thsens.com/2012-artic...wikstrand.html

Wikstrand, who likes his name spelled with a “W” despite the passport saying “Vikstrand”, is a decently sized, mobile defenseman that can transport the puck with his skating and easy-solution, crisp passes.

You can try to rationalize it any way you want, I just can't see any reasons why it's a good idea to call him a first rounder after 6 months. It's like bragging about a Christmas present that breaks within a day. And it's what ruins hfboards, the anything below 20 is gold mentality.

You can twist my words out of context as much as you wish, but I've been pretty damn clear that he's played like a 1st rounder through 3 games I've seen, and that this is not enough of a sample size to make conclusions.

The problem with HF is some jump to conclusions and assume everyone's an idiot.

If he plays like crap against Canada, I'll adjust my thinking.
