When EJ is playing his game, he's better than Girardi. But that wasn't consistent enough last season to be considered the better player overall. I'd take EJ as a homer/fan of his, but wouldn't disagree with anyone taking Girardi either.
Regardless of potential, Girardi fits our needs better

I take EJ in a perfect world where he fulfills his potential. Can be a more dynamic player than Girardi.
