As a Wings fan I hated when the Wings played against that SOB. Now he's our SOB and I love it. He's made some very huge hits in his career and I hope he can make a lot more. Exactly the type of guy the Wings need patrolling the bottom lines.

It was a questionable hit no doubt, but the OP asked for "hardest" hits not cleanest hits. I think people focus so much on the hands, size and strength of Lindros that they forget just how freakin fast he was. A guy his size skating halfway across the rink to nail a much smaller guy into the boards is just scary.
Controversial hit, but no worse than a lot of Stevens' hits. I've seen it called an elbow, but it's really a shoulder to the face. Lafontaine's chin hits right off the Penguins crest on Leroux's shoulder. This would be a suspension now, but it was legal at the time.

No disrespect intended to LaFontaine either, I think I was 13 or so when that hit happened and it's the first time I can remember seeing someone down from a hit and being really scared for them.

That being said, I can see both sides of this particular hit. I hated Leroux but on this play, I can see where you are coming from as well as the Sabres fan. It's not completely concrete.
Anyone else just feel really bad watching some of these? It's great when both players get right up. But sometimes you can see that the guy that got hit, is clearly going to suffer some long term damage. At those speeds and that kind of force, it's gotta be rattling that brain around. Ughhh. Terrifying to think about.

I was praying that the Canucks would make moves on Tootoo. He's one of my favorite players in the NHL. Still so damn jealous you guys scooped him. Hope he comes hot out of the gate for you guys.
Some great hits in here, hard to pick one out as the biggest or hardest. Stevens on Kariya maybe. My personal favorite was Kovalev's forearm shiver on Tucker. Another more recent hit that I quite enjoyed was this beaut:
The Stevens hit on Kariya is my favourite hit video to watch, but that's more that atmosphere, the goal after + Off the floor, on the board, and of course, the visor fog.
