Well, the Best of 2012 thread is pretty much concluded, though there's still some arguing that could be done, on which albums you agree and disagree with.
2013 is shaping up to be a great year, with lots of exciting releases, and I'm sure we'll be blindsided by a few great "out-of-nowhere" albums, too.
Here's some albums to watch for this year:
Yeah Yeah Yeah's - Spring 2013 sometime.
Queen's of the stone age - Don't know much about it, except Trent Reznor is helping out with a song, or two.
Arcade Fire - They're working with a cast of producers, including LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy. Will probably be out closer to the end of 2013, unfortunately.
Vampire Week-end - Sometime in 2013. Local Natives - Hummingbird - January 28th, 2013 Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob - January 29th, 2013 Cloud Nothings - Noisier album, and less melodic. All I know. Sometime this year. Phoenix The National Deerhunter TV on the radio Gold Panda Boards of Canada (Rumored)
Is it confirmed that The National are releasing anything?
I'm looking forward to Franz Ferdinand, Hey Rosetta and Arctic Monkeys hopefully, Yuck will probably release one (had a good debut in 2011), possibly a Blur album, Travis, and I think The Cardigans are finally gonna release another album after 10 years. Maybe a couple Aussie bands like Jezabels and Howling Bells.
One I know for sure I'm looking forward to is the 2nd album by The Joy Formidable. Their debut was probably my 2nd favourite album in 2011.

I didn't really much in terms of new bands to listen to this year but hopefully there's more next one.

There seems to be tons of old rock musicans on board this time.
Uriah Heep drummer Russel Gilbrook will be behind the toms, ex KISS guitarrist Bruce Kulick and SAXON singer Biff Byford is so far confirmed. Hopefully Klaus Meine comes back and maybe Bruce Dickinson? Probobly not but it would be sweet

Yeah, I've never been able to get much joy out of the "keep up with new music every year" thing, to be honest. Usually I try and find five or so albums or so that I moderately enjoy, but I get so little out of that process and it takes enough time and effort that I just pushed it aside completely.
Plus, I don't think any of the bands I particularly like came out with anything this year, so I just didn't have anything to start it up.
Really looking forward to that new Arcade Fire album, but I'm not sure how I feel about them bringing in those other producers.
The new Madvillain album has to be getting released this year. It's been rumored for way too long. If it gets released, I'm expecting the most out of that compared to anything else. The first Madvillainy was my favorite hip-hop album of all time and one of my favorite albums of all time period.
