Maybe if he was an NHLer. These are still kids. That little bit of confidence could go a long way. I've always been on the opposite side of the development argument. I think most projects (especially goaltenders) can be very fragile. The reason Detroit is so successful isnt because they draft exceptionally well, it's because they develop them and take their time. These kids have enough pressure as is.

The WJC is the biggest thing that these kids have played in (with the exception of RNH) and shouldn't just expect them to jump right in and dominate on their first go.

I doubt I'll convince you otherwise but it just rubs me the wrong way. Goaltenders require much more mental care than any other position. Lol they can be headaches sometimes.

Coddling Malcolm isnt an option. He has to hold up his end of the bargain, which is to give his team a chance to win games. Letting in a soft goal a game accomplishes the exact opposite of that.

Laurent Brossoit was wooed by Hockey Canada, playing in the summer series and the subway series, invited to the WJC camp, played well, only to be cut anyway. He did nothing wrong. How does that affect his confidence?

Who cares if Malcolm cant handle being usurped as the starter? Bottom line is he was given the chance in the first place, which is more than Brossoit got.

I don't get how bringing in LB helps prove that the people running hockey Canada are making the right moves. I was shocked when he was cut and now Canada is going to be kicking themselves because of it. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I mean, Canada hasn't had decent goaltending since Carey Price and I'm starting to wonder if It has more to do with the way they are handled. It's not like Sweden and Finland have goaltenders that were drafted top 10 at the draft. The talent is there for them to mold like clay.

Subban clearly has to play better and needs to take responsibility for his play but I don't want this to turn into the MacBlender where we have a different goaltender every night.

Boone Jenner looks like he will miss some games. If I were in charge he would be on a plane home.

Binnington looked strong.

He should be the starter.

Yeah, suddenly a replacement draft isn't a terrible idea haha

I would replace him even if he plays because I don't like the idea of him on my team. Oh well.

Yeah, the fins impressed.

It's an interesting year for injuries at the WJC.

Just look at the Oilers' prospects who didn't make it alone. Reider, Klefbom and Gernat. They'd be having major roles for their respective teams.

Brodin for Sweden as well, along with all of the injured players that we have in our draft.

Opens up slots for players who would otherwise have never made it though, which is cool in a way.

Ryan Murphy promoted to top PP unit alongside Dougie Hamilton

Connor Murphy, Mike Reilly and Shayne Gostisbehere all made the US team. They have one open spot on D they havent filled yet.

http://http://www.worldjunior2013.co...d-states/#list

Hopefully the Drouin injury isnt too bad and he can recover in two or three days. Canada has left him off the roster for now, but could add him after they check him out again today.

Also, Malcolm Subban starts against Germany. Boo.

Chris Peters ‏@chrismpeters

Sweden didn't roster Hampus Lindholm yet due to injury. If he's out, that's SWE's top three D all lost to injury. Crippling. #2013WJC

if the Americans score as much as I am banking on, I may have a decent chance.

I'm excited to see Subban. If he doesn't play I'm pretty much screwed.

Two Swedish goalies picked in this draft and I'm pretty sure neither of them are getting the start tomorrow

Wondering if anyone wants to get rid of the 40+ saves column for goalies and change it to points, so it may be easier to keep track?

Also, I used my post on the first page to place my table. Might be easier if we all do the same, to compare and keep track. At least until the Nuge fills in the first post, and if it becomes too much of a chore for him to do so, we will have all the stats at the ready on the first page.

What say you?

I just took out the country column and put it in brackets next to the goalies name. I should hopefully get everything updated tomorrow. I had to wait until the 4:30 replay on TSN today, so I didn't want to look at any scores

No problem. If you find it is too much of a burden, let us know.

Also......

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

Team USA will go with 6 D in game vs. GER. One of Pat Sieloff or Matt Grzelyck will be added to roster on Friday. The other will be released

Team USA wants to see how its 6 D perform as a group vs GER before deciding to take a banger (Sieloff) or a mobile puckhandler (Grzelyck).

For those asking, rosters were submitted Dec. 25 but teams can leave open spot(s) and fill at later date. CAN didn't add Drouin til Dec. 26.

RUS player Shalunov's double minor for highsticking in game vs SVK under review for IIHF discipline. Decision expected in about two hours.

........also Rasmus Bengtsson was taken to hospital last night. Yet another blow to Sweden's blue line. Sounds like he may be able to return to action sometime during the tourney, unsure of what the problem was/is.
