Anyone see a more physical Malkin in Galchenyuk? His peripheral vision is incredible. He just backhanded a pass from the side boards right through the crowd.

I doubt Galchenyuk will be as good as Malkin. I hope, but Malkin is a generational talent.

The way he skates and passes REALLY makes me think of Malkin.

I don't want to get my hopes up either but if Gally was healthy all year would he have gone 1st or 2nd overall? It's not beyond the realms of possibility.

He's a more a compete player, and IMHO not a diva like Yak. People can say what they want ... but the character of a player is a big thing ... spills out into their work ethic and intensity.

Gally player of the game. Not bad considering his ice time.

How much TOI did he finally end up with? Didn't see him as much in the second half of the game.

Not sure what the final TOI was. Housley reminds me of Jacques Martin.

No kidding.

He couldn't have played more than 7 minutes in that span. I only remember seeing him 2-3 times.

He's a good skater and he has a mean streak. He has third liner written all over him. Think Burke would still want him before Kucherov with hindsight?

Gally barely played in the third.. Hopefully it was cause the game was out of reach and Housley wanted to see what he can get from his other lines.. cant wait for tommorow game against russia..

And if Gally had been slashed on the wrist or broke his foot in a blowout game, you'd be pissed and wondering why he was out there when the game was decided.

They did the right thing, the game was in the bag. Now he'll be very fresh for tomorrow's game.

You have a better chance of injury playing about two minutes in the third.

I'll track his ice time when I get home from work. I watched the game though and damn, I loved every minute of it - despite being German.

- His goal. Exactly what I am used to seeing him do with the Sting. He has all the patience in the world and the IQ to find some open space. Once he has enough room to let a shot go, he will. I've seen him do it quite a lot this year.

- His second assist. Again, this kid knows how to forecheck hard, especially when he knows the puck carrier is weak on both the puck and the stick. The German defender turned back one too many times and when he went down, it was like a shark smelling blood for Gallchenyuk.

The Galchenyuk-Kuraly-Barber line played well together. Eight points in three periods is quite nice, especially when they score 19 seconds into the 1st and then top that by scoring 14 seconds into the 2nd.

Gally with the player of the game, of course, and the TSN Most Valuable Performer. What a shot! I've watched that goal on Youtube like 10 times already and it still hasn't gotten old. The kid is ready in my opinion.

Also, don't worry about his 3rd period icetime. Housley isn't stupid, he knows Gally's their best player. Like Marc said, huge game tomorrow and they're gonna need him if they wanna win. Plus he didn't wanna look like he running up the score on the Germans. Obviously we all wish he was getting 30 minutes a game but we're not the ones that have to think about winning hockey games.

Exactly, he was saving him for the tougher game tomorrow hence the pulling of Gibson. Nothing to worry about the kid had a sick game!

Ahahah ! Yea, sometimes size and nationality can fool the GM's. I think that 3rd liner in the NHL is his ceiling. He will spend a fair amount of time in the AHL. Seems like a fringe NHLer to me... Time will tell though.
