Despres is an NHL ready D-man. Will likely be a #5 in Pitt if there is a season. Big bodied, swift skating two way D.
Jeffrey is a very capable #3C. Didn't fully heal from his knee injury two seasons ago and as a result struggled last year. Seems to be playing well overseas and is in good shape. With the Sutter acquisition, he won't have a place at center on our team.
I'd give you Zack Phillips and a 3rd from Minnesota for Despres alone. Or I'd take Jeffrey to NYR for Thomas+3rd/2nd. But I don't see anything involving them in a package with a 1st, and Despres hasn't played a whole season yet.

He's played in 18 regular season games.
The package is a solid core. Not sure what teams out there are willing to give up, but it could probably fetch a winger similar to Neal when he was traded. Maybe better, I'd say Despres/DJ/1st is a hell of a better package than Goligoski alone, especially at the time he was traded.

Check that again.
He has a small sample size of NHL games (18+3 playoffs), but has looked good while up.
Whoops, I'm sorry. Better check my facts next time.
Edited the post.
Honest mistake.
I don't see the Rags and Pens trading anytime soon but maybe with Minnesota.
What about
Jeffrey+5th for Zucker+3rd (I see them having similar potential--with Jeffrey further along in development and someone who's underrated). I can take out the + or switch it around however.
OR
Despres for Coyle straight up.
Despres could easily establish himself as a regular who could log significant minutes as early as next year. Since hockey isn't going to be here this year (Santa didn't grant my wish, that ****)
edit: I know this post isn't addressing the OP, but I have no idea what that package could get...
I think Zucker has a little more potential than Jeffrey. I'd switch the picks and even then I don't know if the Wild would like it. If the Penguins are trading away those assets, I think it would be for a more proven winger.
I think that a trade for Jeffrey with Minny would be centered around Larsson, not Coyle or Zucker. Seeing as we're entering the final stages of the rebuild and entering win now mode, we might not be able to wait for Larsson to develop.
IMO Zucker and Jeffrey are almost identical. I almost think they are mirror of each other.
I agree that the Pens would be packaging something for an established winger, but in terms of value either of the trades I listed would work for me. Meaning, I wouldn't frown upon it, if it happened. That's because I'm not sure if Jeffrey+1st round pick in addition to Despres could bring in a lot.
I still like Despres for Coyle. I think it fits both teams needs.
edit: Oh, and Jeffrey plays LW now. I think he switched when he turned pro, but he may have played C for at least one season, not sure.

Maybe Anisimov for Despres+3rd or Dubinsky+(that new mullet of his) for Jeffrey and a 1st? Dubinsky for just a first would probably be acceptable to Howson, but since OP is set on moving these guys....

Phillips is probably the most realistic option from the prospect pool. However, I'm not even sure if Despres is the type of dman that the Wild need. Doesn't Scandella fill a similar type of role?

I know Howson isn't the best GM in the world but I highly doubt he would trade Dubinsky for a pick before he even plays a game for us....
