What a play by Grimaldi. Shades of McDonagh there

Miller excites me alot.

He's a hustle player, checking and defense type guy, does a little of everything, good leader and teammate, BUT if you give him room he will flash some skill.

Reminds me a little bit of a certain Rangers captain

Their defense is loaded with a bunch of softies. They won't move Miller from there.

Watching the 2010 Quarterfinal of USA vs Finland right now. Interesting to look back and watch the 2010 versions of Stepan and Kreider.

He's the perfect player for this team. Everybody said so at the draft. If he's not scoring, he hits and backchecks.

Correct. Which will only matter if Torts is still here when he makes the roster.

Has questionable hands, but everything else is there.

Miller was the most physical forward (had 3 huge hits), scored a nice goal (honestly he might have tipped the other), but he was a straight up give away machine. Tried to do way too much out there; honestly he's playing with Grimaldi and Gaudreau, that line would be a lot better if he let them do most of the stick handling.

Definitely wouldn't call it a bad game. He made things happen every shift and he probably had the puck more then every other forward. Just poor decision making.

Speaking of poor decision making, good lord Seth Jones. He's huge and has talent, but he was making questionable plays all game. I can see him molding into a superstar, but I don't know if he is ready to take the reigns at this stage.

Every forward was great. I found Riley Barber's game to be a little "meh" but if he keeps doing all the little things right next to a forward as good as Galchenyuk (the most talented forward we have had in years), then he will do good.

Same with the defense and goaltending, everyone was great. Jake McCabe and Connor Murphy were as mistake free as it gets.

Every player was good, and while Miller made a lot more good plays then others, he had quite a few bad plays as well.

His performance at the U-18's and recently in hartford shows he has the ability to play a skill game.

Even the shot he took from the wing on the 4-on-2 was labeled for the top corner. he was just at a bad angle.

Playing with skill players will make him more creative with the puck.

Out of all the top-tier draft eligible D-men I've seen in the last five or six WJC's, Jones has to be the worst in terms of using his head. Larrson, Hedman, Fowler, Murray, Doughty etc all had their issues at some point but Jones makes a lot of dumb plays in his own zone. Give me smart and reliable over size and skill any day of the week when it comes to blueliners. The ones who combine everything are the guys you draft in the top-5.

This game alone I counted at four cross crease passes and four cross blue-line passes with a guy pressuring him. His head coach was the world heavyweight champion of that **** when he played, and it's part of the reason why he's not in the Hall of Fame (just saying).

No question of whether he can play a skill game or not. He most definitely can, he's big, smart and talented.

But he is playing with two players more skilled then him, and he was holding onto the puck too much.

Habs got a great player here. for some reason i think he will be their best skilled player after one season when he reaches the NHL.. i just hope the Habs dont ruin him. they havent had much luck with top draft picks...outside McDonagh who they traded, they drafted first round picks in Carey Price in 2005 and and Max Pacioretty in 2007 were the only first round picks since 2005 that has made the NHL regular... PK Subban was a 2ed round in 2007... 1st round pick from 2009 Louis Leblanc only played 42 games in his first NHL season last year..

side note. I dealt Richards and 1st in 2018 to Habs for Galchenyuk, 1st in 2013 and 3rd in 2013 in NHL 13..

FINALLY got to watch the tape (I was tempted to get a slingbox just for this tourney...) but this is spot on. Miller had a good game overall, with some positives and negatives.

He was definitely trying to do too much out there at times - calling for passes when he didn't warrant getting the puck, looking shoot every time, getting a little too cute trying to make moves, etc. Really rough 1st period especially.

But as the game progressed, so did his play. He is a very smart player overall and made good reads. Scored a nice goal, and "deserved an assist" on the Ghostisbehere goal. But in the third period especially he was fantastic in the transition game, as he has the ability to be. Not to mention the 3 absolutely monster hits he delivered. I really wanted to see a replay of the 3rd one in the d-zone.

He plays a (generally) sound and tenacious game in all 3 zones, with real flashes of top-end skill on occasion. You will never confuse him for Galchenyuk or even Grimaldi but I think he is a perfect fit for what the NYR are building.

Ceresnak and Slovakia playing against Canada on NHL Network right now. It's 2-0 Slovakia after 1.

Ceresnak looks ok. Was playing some point on the powerplay. Looked calm with the puck certainly not shy about jumping into the rush. Need to see more of him.

His stats in the OHL are awful this season. I assume that has something to do with him being on the worst team in the league though.

Thanks for telling me the game is on. 3-0 SVK.

Has Malcolm Subban been just as bad as he was vs Germany?

Subban hasn't been too bad although he's played a bit like Luongo. Not great but not bad. They started the game without momentum and got trapped in by a 5 minute major and another 5 minute major after cutting the deficit to 2-1. At 3-1, CAN started to get back to their game and had a 5-3 of their own to kick off the first of 3 goals. 4-3 after the second.

Couple of good chances early for the USA. Good goaltending keeps it scoreless.

EDIT: And Russia comes right back and scores on the PP.

What a BOMB by Trouba. Can they settle realignment in the NHL? I don't want to watch Callahan and the boys jump in front of that bomb 4 times a year...

Seth Jones looked like a ****ing cone on that play. I don't know why Hradek is all up on his ****. All I've seen is that he's a good skater for a kid his size, most of the time, and isn't afraid to rocket-fire from the point.

I dont get why everyone is on Jones jock. Hes worse defensively than Pk Subban, the kid is a cone on D. He makes some good offensive plays, but he is terrible on the D end, and his giveaways are worse. I just dont get it.
