I am hoping this is a Gold Medal rematch just to see which side Canadians hate less.

Do people expect for the US to finally make their decision and dress a seventh defenseman for this game?

They would be stupid not too. It's already at the point where it is clear they have mishandled the situation. Not only have they kept these two players hopes alive, but they have also kept them away from there club teams and more importantly there families during a very important time of year.

Russians always start their tournament slow, I wouldnt rely only on this game I doubt we get the real picture here..

Since both are playing the wing on the first line, thats a Gally vs Yakupov matchup to me..

Galchenyuk's points should count in Russia's favor

Happy about this because, as is, USA has enough offense from the D and someone that is big, intimidating and stay at home will do wonders (I feel) against Russia. GO USA. Hope Ghost gets another goal .

The Russians are an enigma as usual, so this one is absolutely unpredictable. If Russia awaken after their underwhelming performance vs. Slovakia, the Americans are gonna have a night to remember (in a bad way). I guess who's the first to score will have a good chance to win. I'm totally dying to watch this game.

Russia has the better forwards, Americans have the better defense, and it's a push in goaltending.

I just wish we could start this game right now.

Kind of OT but maybe a Russian poster can help. Apparently this article says Koko is returning to Windsor after WJC but it's in Russian and I can't read it. Is it true?

Yep, the article says Khokhlachev goes "overseas" after this WJC and doesn't stay in Russia to the end of the season. The coach uses the words 'I think...', 'in all probability...' though.

Hope Koko snipes one but, Seiloff lowers the boom on someone and doesn't get 5 for hitting to hard and the USA win 5-4

I don't care who wins this game as when it comes to the wjc, I hate both these teams with a passion. That being said....we are in for a very entertaining game I think

Patty lowering the boom on Yakupov would make a great, late christmas for this Flames fan!

Usually after all this build up the game tends to be a somewhat lackluster... but I'm hoping for a barnburner. Zharkov insists that the Russians will dominate the Americans, Galchenuk responded, we'll see.

The game agianst Germany was basically just another exhibition game. I put no stock in it what so ever. The real tournament starts now. We'll find out after this game whether this team is really a contendor for gold or not.

Prediction: Russia wins 3-2 in regulation
