I would give up a decent prospect or pick from the Sens. We need a defenceman if there is a season and I've always like his play (when healthy). I'd probably also inquire about Stralman.

i watched about 30-40 rangers games last year and just don't see why people think sauer is anything more then a #5 defenceman who can fill in as a #4 for short time periods

Sauer only played 19 games for the Rangers last year. Might be why you didn't notice him. The year before when healthy he was a regular on the second pair.
