The Slovaks didn't give the Russians an inch last game.

Very exciting team and will be the next step for Canada.

They aren't particularly big but they are fast and surprisingly skilled.

Russians were playing selfish and trying to dangle every rush. I really dont think its going to be a close game for Canada if they actually play as a team

+5 goal differential

Slovaks are great on the boards though especially the Mraz line. But once again, Russians were playing insanely selfish and still outchanced the slovaks by a landslide. People are putting too much stock into the scoreboard for the Russia Slovak game

Unlike other players, Galchenyuk can apparently play all three forward positions (he has been used as all three in Sarnia). The reason he's being used as a winger is to provide offense as he is very good along the wall and, as was seen in today's game, he has a very good shot.

That's not to say however that he's being used on the wing because he isn't suitable as a center. It just means defensive responsibilities are lessened in order to focus on offense because he can put the puck in the net (i.e. can finish). He has the traits one would look for in a center: he is very creative with the puck, can make unbelievable passes, is good positionally and can create space for the rest of his teammates by drawing defenders to himself and then giving the puck to a teammate. He is also billed as a two way player by his coach, which takes nothing away from his offensive capabilities.

While he isn't without weaknesses, he truly has many very good, diverse aspects to his game.

*ad finished *

Fins played some incredible hockey from what I have seen in the tournament. Definitely the strongest Euro team.

If Canada can start playing like the sum of their parts, this tournament will be a walk in the park for them. Otherwise I see the Fins taking it.

The hype for the Finns is getting out of control.
They are currently getting worked by the Czechs.

With the talent they have, this could turn around right quick.

Couple great shifts by Teravainen and Barkov. Jaskin nearly takes Sasha's leg off there :s

Hertl looks really good. Hard in the corners, and creating chances by driving the goal mouth.

Barkov will make a really good pro.
Big, strong, skates well, good hands, good hockeysense, good on draws and plays C.

On skillset alone he looks like a better forward prospect then Mackinnon.

Good puck protection, and goes to the net without the puck.

Czechs win 3-1

Finland had some good stretchs but Czech Republic certainly earned that win.

Yeah it's ridiculous. What has Rielly had so far, one shift?

Seems like its regular shifts for every defenseman. Except Morgan.

One shift on ES, and one on the PP, I think. At least this time, there's some rationale behind it. Canada was shorthanded for 1/3rd of the period.

What a disaster of a period. Don't suppose they can get a new coach before the 2nd ?

Who needs defense when you have Teflon Murphy?

So 2/3rd's of the period he's basically sitting on the bench except for some PP time. I don't understand the logic behind these coaching decisions at all.
