"Interesting" first period. Liked the huge hit by Scheifele near the end, but that's about it. Time to wake up, Team Canada.

EDIT: nice work by Strome!

Man Scheifele is taking a beating today. The top line has been effective though.

Great clean hit AFAIC.
Hope that kid is okay, but maybe that sparks Canada.

Hit to the head, pretty clearly. Upsetting maybe since there was no call originally, but the right call was made in the end. Doesn't matter if he didn't target the head, he made contact with the head first. That'll be a 2-3 game suspension.

Ugh! 5 min major against Camara AFTER the review and not called on the ice, and a game misconduct for Canada?!??? That hit was clean: no charging, no leaving his feet, no targeting the head.

Canada now has 10 forwards on the ice, and might have to play that way against the US on the weekend.

Great work by RNH and Scheifele behind the net, and great shot by Rielly. Sweet little pass from Scheif.

I think he just wasn't expecting it, and fell down. I'll take it though - nice job on the PP by Rattie.

I've NEVER seen Mark play this physical. He's really throwing his weight around. I'm really impressed with his game so far today.

Hah! Nice work Scheif - acting as a d-man for a spell, then a tip-in for the goal. Nice job.

Mark has been good this whole tournament, but not great. I think he has more in him. He just needs to stop with the offensive turnovers, keep his head up, and start playing physical more (like his has been this 2nd period).

Nice tip by Mark for the go ahead goal too!

Just embarrassing watching the bigger, more physical Canadians flopping all over the ice...they are a better team than the Slovaks, why don't they trying playing hockey

Ragged first period - Lipon took a 5 min major and game misconduct for checking to the head, then Camara took one in the 2nd for charging. The Slovak's PP looked good, and capitalized.

Canada picked up the pace near the end of the 2nd, and started to take it to Slovakia.

Scheifele having a tough game - a questionable hit on him in the 1st, layed a couple of big hits, had a nice back and forth passing session with RNH on a PP before he fed the d-main sneaking in for a PP goal, then a tip-in for a goal, his 3rd of the tourney.

Not going to mention scores, in case anyone drifts into the thread late...

What a gutty performance by Scheifele so far. Goal and assist and has taken some nasty, illegal hits (knee and blindside). How that wasn't interference, i'll never know.

Canada is showing some grit today.

IIHF officiating. They know they'll draw a penalty if they go down. Both teams. Makes the game a sham, in comparison to other leagues or competition.

Thanks!

Scheifele does look a bit off his balance. He's not looking bad, he's winning puck battles and keeping pucks in, but he doesn't look 100%.

How does Subban look? He hasn't impressed me at all before this game, but since I started watching this game(Canada 5 on 3), I don't think there has been a single shot on him.

Just wanna chime in on the Camara hit. To me, it seemed like a textbook example of one of the Stevens hits that are supposed to be legal. Yes, he hit the head, but the hit wasn't direted to hit the head, it was just impossible to miss it, and therefore impossible to hit the guy without hitting the head too.
