Coming in to say Nuge is awesome. I'm a fan even though he's an Oiler. So good.

Wonder how Camara and Lipon will fair in terms of a suspension?

Bob Mackenzie tweeted earlier that the people in charge of that decision are an ex-NHL ref and a former NCAA coach.

Ryan Strome is an unbelievable talent. Reminds me of a slightly-less dynamic Tyler Seguin. What a steal by the Islanders.
Slightly less dynamic?

I bet Lipon suspended for sure.

My gut wants to say Camara wont get suspended, but my head tells me he will anyway.

Apparently an on ice official told him hit was clean.

It all depends on how much they allow injury to take a part in the decision. Hell the guy Lipon hit didnt miss a shift.

He's fast, but doesn't have that break-away speed you see with guys like Seguin/Hall - he also doesn't possess a shot on the level of Seguin's either.

That's not a knock on Strome - we're comparing him to 1st-overall level kind of talent here.

that camara hit shouldn't have even been a PENALTY, let alone a suspension

yet again, the IIHF reffing is a complete and utter disgrace

Man Drouin is an impressive talent. I know he's another small forward but man would i love him on the oilers. Great speed, great hands, creative, and he seems to be a little bit of an agitator also.

I would've said a poor man's Seguin, that said I agree with you. I also don't see the high end playmaking ability that Seguin has.

Yeah. But Lipon hit legitimately a stuipid hit you shouldn't make. Camara just a monster.

I dont think injury should be taken into account because its just so... random. You can survive something dangerous but not something normally harmless.

MacKinnon impress me. Not had overly pretty game but he has all the tools. He big, fast, strong, smart. Package only really found in a few players... off the top of my head just like Crosby, Ovi, Malkin, Hossa, and Kovi.

I feel as rough around the edges as he is, Mackinnon has this beast aspect to him that could really come into effect as this tournament progresses. There's a Crosby-like ability to combine strength and finesse to getting to where he wants to be on the ice. Very impressive.

Yeah. Kid is going to be a hell of a hockey player. As an NHL player skys limit for that kid I think. I'd say he could be a step above Hall/Tavares/RNH.

I'd also like me some Camara. Big, fast footed defence first kind of player that throws his weight around like that?

Yes please.

Subban had a solid third period i thought
Good game for scheifele he really took a beating in this one and was still quite effective
With regards to suspensions i think Lipon gets atleast one game leaving canada with 11 forwards for the game against usa i don't think Camara should get suspended hard to say if he will though they have called it really tight
Nuge and steome also had pretty solid games
Canada had a brutal start and was shaky for the first period and a bit of the second but they really brought it together good win

Wish i could stay up for the usa russia game but i can't, i'm wait to tired

Like Gord Miller said, they pretty much always suspend anyone who gets a game misconduct at least 1 game.

His skill level isn't really that close to RNH's and Tavares's. He could be better than Hall.

I was beginning to question Schiefele's spot on the top line this morning but he ended up getting POG honours.

Its obvious the 1rst line is going to be very important and we need all 3 guys on that line to be dominant.

This can't be a line where 2 guys make all the hay and another guy is just out there to pick up the left overs.

I guess everyone else see's it different than me but I haven't seen a "big mans game" from Schiefele thus far. He was better in the 2nd half of this game...but...I'd like to see a bit more.

Especially when you consider who we COULD place on the line with Hubie and Nuge. (Strome)

Nuge's goal was disgusting. That's just ridiculous decision-making and hands in tight there.

a prediction.
Russia plays Canada on the New Year's Eve.
Nuge accidentally does something annoying to Yak.
Yak goes berserk, attacks Nuge, delivers him a beefy concussion, breaks wrist and gets a lengthy suspension.
go Oilers go.

i'm not sure that mackinnon has the skill of tavares or RNH, although his skill level is certainly at halls level or higher.... mackinnon has the complete package, that's for sure - there isn't much he can't do .... he doesn't have that one freaky ability though, like crosby's balance, yakupov's shot or hall's speed, so i wonder if that will limit his eventual top-end somewhat, not sure really.... hell of a player though, who will help you win hockey games in a bunch of different ways... i'm trying to think of a recent comparable to him, and am coming up blank somewhat, maybe landeskog? although he doesn't have the size of landeskog and doesn't play the same position... possibly a smaller version of toews, in that mackinnon is a complete player?

the reference to eberle after nuges goal was interesting... A. because it did remind me of eberle's "tight net play making" and B. because its somewhat hilarious that eberle is already so well known for his hands in close to the net at such a young age

Watching this game makes me think that Alex Ovechkin has ruined Russian hockey. Almost every odd man rush ends up with the puck carrier ripping a shot or taking it hard to the net.

Makarov is going to have to continue standing on his head for Russia to win this game.

That's Oiler luck right there. Or maybe they'll hurt themselves shaking hands.
