Exactly.

The IIHF refs have had their chance and they have failed.

This reminds me of the NFL reffing situation in many ways.

I think the IIHF's line of reffing is pretty well-thought-out. It's junior hockey and you don't want anyone's career to be over when you're under 20 years old.

Agreed, I was fine with the cross check but the trip at the end was pretty bad.

I can't believe all this hate from "neutral" fans. If you don't think the acting was started by Slovaks, I don't even know what to say...

Team Canada is mum about officiating. Every single player not saying a word about them. Good.

I am not sure I understand how people are saying that the Camara hit was clean. Yes the guy had his head down, but the initial point of contact was the head. The reason they put that rule in is to prevent these types of injuries than can not only put a player out of the game, but ruin the rest of their life. Yes it sucks, but at the end of the day you can not hit a guy in the head like that.

So what happens when they turn 21, start playing professionally, and get hurt even worse 'cause they can't handle getting hit?

How about links of your boys diving too, or are we pretending that didn't happen?

IIHF rules are different to the NHL, people need to remember that.

Don't really see anything wrong with that hit but the refs perhaps thought the head was primal from their view so called it on that.

You're new to this, aren't you. Horrible/inconsistent officiating has plagued the tournament for decades.

IIHF reffing has always been pretty bad.

With that said the Camera play reminded me a ton of the Kronwall hit on Havlat, where he got the gate for KOing him in the playoffs a couple years ago. Sometimes even the NHL refs let it get away from them looking at the end result. The real key will be if they follow it up with a suspension which would just be awful.

Lipon's hit is a dirty hit and he deserves whatever comes. That gets called in the CHL, AHL, and NHL.

The ticky tack calls are always going to be there. It is unfortunate but the players know that going in and need to be careful.

It's just hatred and jealously. Oh and ******** forgot to mention that.

They got their hopes up when Slovakia were up 2-0/3-1 and then it all came crashing down for them.

True. A lot of "neutral" fans disappeared in GDT after Canada scored the tieing goal.

I don't get how they say that there was no contact with the head. His shoulder went right into his face.

The Euros are so bad for playing their head down. Anyone (Canadian players included) deserve to get hit hard if their heads are down. If you get a concussion than keep your head up next time.

The problem is not the refs. Camara's penalty was completely called by the rulebook. Blaming the refs misses the point. It's the rulebook that is the issue. If you really want to make the point, start criticizing the rules in place, not those whose job it is to call the action by the rules.

I have no problems with headshots being a penalty. What Lipon did earlier in the game was an absolute penalty and is something that should be against the rules. What Camara did, on the other hand, is a textbook example of a good hit: arms down, feet on the ice, less than 3 strides and no particular targeting of any body part. That's a hit to the chest, not a headshot. The fact that the player had his head down and in front of his body is the only reason there's head contact, and is not Camara's fault at all. That should not be a penalty.

For those claiming that the purpose of the rule is to prevent injuries, it's a physical game. Injuries like that are going to happen no matter what. Injuries on good hits where the player puts himself in a bad position are bad, but they're part of the game. There's no good reason to make that a penalty except to remove physicality, much more so than headshot rules like the CHL and NHL have as they penalize a particular style of hitting (arms up, headhunting, etc). As a person who hates blaming the victim on legitimately bad hits like hits from behind and headhunting, I don't want to see any rules that remove physicality with no targeting towards a particular body part.

Maybe if Europe wants to get on Canada's level and actual be able to compete with us in the NHL they need to start learning for themselves how to play the game the right way.

Theres no NHL refs to change your diapers for you over here..
