Ovechkin 1 assist, 6-0 win.

He played like crap. Randomly losing the puck without any sort of pressure. No cycling presence.

MoJo is playing so great in these games.

Through 2 periods him and Backstrom both have a goal and assist, but I think Backstrom goal was actually Hornqvists.

That was an awesome area pass by who ever got the primary assist. He had a split second to make the pass and he executed perfectly.

Brooks Laick back in the USA again to heal a groin injury that handicapped him for a few weeks. He will choose at the beginning of January if he comes back in Switzerland again.

Ovechkin and Backstrom both with a goal and an assist.

Ovechkin nice skate up half wall freezes goalie and passes to Backstrom.

Then Ovechkin got the puck in the middle of the ice with only one defense man ahead of him, and to his left, dragged puck behind defense man and then nice move for backhand goal. Really sick goal.

51 seconds for Ovi's sick goal. Ovechkin actually had 1 goal and 2 assists, I thought he had 2, but they are slow at correcting this stuff.

Ovy has gained some speed and seems to be a smarter player. This lockout might be a blessing in disguise for the Caps.

Well his teammates aren't told not trust him. Ovi had a terrible terrible year assist wise because his linemates cowered at the red line because that's what Dale Hunter wanted them to do.

Oleg Znaroks trusts Ovechkin. He's a temporary captain because he is a leader, not because he is high skill, the actual captain Yuri Babenko I believe is a 4th liner.

He's got a coach having faith in him and its good for him.

Also I saw someone say on Sovsport in the comments that Ovechkin has points in 12 straight. So far he's shown himself to be the most consistent of the NHLers in the KHL, which shows in the standings.

Yeah was a nice goal, but not a pretty game for Ovi or Nicky overall. They area road trip and then playing somewhere that is 7 hours ahead probably doesn't help.

This season I already witnessed plenty of beauties by Ovi (and another one today). And finally had a chance to see him and Backy live (back in November). Very happy.

Here's the most recent goal:

Backstrom was benched a couple of shifts. He was right in front of an opposing player with the puck 10 feet away from blue line skates right by him and does nothing.

Nvm Backstrom is injured, no way he is still benched, missed couple of shifts played one and hasn't played since 15 minutes left in the 2nd.

Wow, what a half-hearted retraction.

Backstrom was injured during the game. https://twitter.com/Rabiesmalin/stat...92416111960065 "Bäckström got hit from behind 8 minutes into the second and landed awkwardly into the boards."

The severity of the injury is unknown.

Dynamo is currently claiming that he will play in the next game on Friday. http://translate.googleusercontent.c...e7Wa4NIHvi3EaQ

Also see: http://www.russianmachineneverbreaks...e-with-injury/

The bottom photo shows Backstrom on the bench while ice is being applied to the back of his neck. He did not return to the game.

Errr they didn't show it... And I figured since he was off a couple of shifts then back, that it was minor and just airing on the side of caution.

Backstrom claimed he had a migraine after the Bourque hit. I don't think I trust his medical judgment any more than I do the Russian team doctors'.

Apparently hits can actually trigger migraines in players who are predisposed to them. I remember that being discussed after the Bourque hit on Backstrom and also in an interview with the Penguins' Kris Letang, another player who has occasional migranes (and a concussion last year).

The similarity between migrane and concussion symptoms can make it difficult to diagnose concussions in players like Backstrom and Letang. The player just assumes that he has a migraine triggered by the hit and tries, as usual, to play through it.

Ovechkin pointless in 2-4 loss. He drew 3 penalties with small ice time at first, ended up having a nearly 17 minute game because of nearly 8 minutes of ice time in the third.

Ends a 14 game point streak.
