Reminds me of a Darren Helm/Jay Pandolfo type player. He's speedier and very smart two-way. Could really anchor a third line and play solid PK minutes, while chipping in 25-40 points.

Yakupov probably isn't aware that he has 2 other forwards playing on his line and I'd love for us to land Grigorenko, somehow, from Buffalo. He and Kovy could be real lethal offensively... The only thing would be the defensive side of things.

Don't think Pietila's line has play since USA went down 2-1. I understand they aren't an offensive line but they were playing well.

Edit: And there is Pietila

Volchenkov and Colin White got it covered.

People are saying Pietila dove.

Because everyone just wants to go face first into the boards. Pietila was ****ing cross checked in the back unexpectedly, yeah, he's going to go down hard.

That's the most dangerous play in hockey right there. Crosschecking someone from behind, 3 to 4 feet away when facing the boards. Neck and shoulder injuries come far too easy when getting "hit" like that.

Just a brutal play by someone who has no idea how to throw a body check or pin his opponent to the glass.

Under IIHF rules, it's a hit to the head, wich is BS btw. I guess everyone should be skating with their heads between their legs so the opposition can't knock'em flat on their rear ends for playing like pee-wee's.

Oh well.

Yea damn the IIHF for trying to protect 18 and 19 year olds. They should just let them kill each other for our entertainment.

Incorrect. Under the IIHF rules, every foul play that results in an injury is worth a game misconduct. I disagree with the rule, but it is what it is.

FYI, they called it a charge (had to somehow justify the call). lol

That said:

Exactly.

And as much as I dislike Lambert, he got this right:

Quote:
Well hey correct me if I’m wrong but running into a guy with both fists at 20 miles an hour behind the net is illegal in just about any league on earth, and any time a kid is brought off the ice and to a local hospital, that’s usually a pretty good indicator of a game misconduct too. All of which goes without mentioning that Mark Scheifele seems to have figured out pretty much exactly what the refs will call, given the frequency with which he spent the entire game flopping all over the ice, including the crucial and most egregious dive that led to Canada’s game-tying goal. Ray Ferraro would call that “heady,” any non-homer observer would call it “chicken****.”
He also forgot how Hamilton sold the interference call just a few minutes before that.

Now THAT`s *****ing hockey, my Canadian friends.

If the kid won't protect himself by keeping his head up the IIHF shouldn't care either.

True, but don`t we know this approach from other hockey tournaments/leagues and/or sports too? It simply works that way, whether we like it or not.

Frankly, I don`t mind it, simply because it makes some of those kids learn. Unfortunately, Camara was innocent and I felt bad for the kid. His team won the game anyway and he won`t get any additional punishment (nor he should), so whatever. Everybody`s moving on. Pressing for a rule change? Go ahead and join the IIHF board, I`ll support your candidacy.

So the Slovak d-men is looking at his laces when getting a pass and the opposing player should let him receive the pass, wait until he get's his head up to knock him down on his ass?

Should he warn him as well if he get's there just in time for a big hit or should he brake to avoid a big hit and tap him on the shoulder and say "your it" and run away. Hockey is hockey. It's really unfortunate that the kid had to be carried off the ice but that's the game. It's a fast pace, hard hitting game and it sucks that when there's a big impact collision between two players and that one of them get's injured, penalies are thrown out because of sympathy and nothing else.

I might be wrong but not one ref had their hand up when that kid got wallpapered, so why huddle up 2 minutes after the hit to call something no one saw?

Football is turning "soft" as well. Defensive players aren't allowed to hit like they used to and offensive players have all the rights in the world now a days... but I might be wrong.

Just look up and you`ll see that at least half of that post was unnecessary.

And you`re not wrong, the ref made a mistake. But did he? That`s the "beauty" of those IIHF rules. We can nothing but laugh.

I actually applauded the hit.

It's the same in minor hockey; however, the hit wasn't a foul so it doesn't deserve ANY penalty.
