Where the heck is it -40 right now? And it doesn't matter since -40F = -40C

We've been quite warm here in Poland, it's barely getting below 0C overnight the last few weeks, with a few exceptions.

Space lives in the freaking Yukon. Also, I'm pretty sure he knows they're the same, since he said they're literally the same. Although he misspelled literally.

Dammit.

Our neighbor across the street is a nice lady and all, but she has a very annoying habit of topping-off our garbage container with her trash when I put the containers on the curb. I see her scurry across the street with a full bag of trash as soon as I close the front door and turn off the porch light. It's annoying to me because we're always chatting and neighborly, even to the point where we send food over to her and exchange Christmas presents. She should be able to simply ask us if we're okay with her using the extra space when there is some. There have been numerous times where we go to empty out the kitchen can (after breakfast) and the container is now full with her stuff. I'm only griping about this now because I didn't know the collection would be a day late and I put the containers to the street already. Now we have zero room to put away our garbage.

I gotta figure out a polite way to bring it up to her.

your right on both counts but yeah, when its -40 we just don't go out if we can help it... besides, much colder than that and you exponentially increase the risk of making your car go boom

Buy one of those giant spotlight flashlights and a bullhorn, then wait on your steps with the lights off (faking like you went inside) until she scurries across the street. As soon as she opens up the lid of the garbage can, turn on the flashlight pointed right at her and hit the siren button on the bullhorn and shout "freeze!" into it.

That should get her attention.

can't go wrong with an airhorn either (assuming it's not too late)

How early is your trash picked up? Our company picks up around 11:30am so I'm able to just roll down the trash in the mornings ...

Usually at 6am. I would put it out at night, but I'd end up like half the people on my street with their garbage knocked over by raccoons. We have the rolling type of bins, and the raccoons have become very good at pulling them down by hanging on the lid hinge while one pushes the wheels from under it. Those jerks.

I should boobytrap the lid with a string attached to an air horn. Hmm, I could claim I didn't know it was her doing it.

You could simply put a note attached to the lid that says "Whoever is filling up our trash please stop, sometimes we have trash we cannot fit in our own can"

She doesn't know you know, she gets the message, everyone wins.

Good idea. Could I perhaps put some vague threat on there as well?

"...or else"

Or

"I will hunt you down"

Yeah, that's a good way to start it off. If she ignores it, confront her next time you catch her.

If I was giving you an impolite suggestion, it would've involved dumping her trash back on her driveway and lighting it on fire along with "next time I'll light the house" spelled out in burning gasoline.

Just do your best Samuel L Jackson impersonation. The one from that terrible movie where he is a terrible neighbor to my baby Kerry Washington.
