Buyouts per team

Each Club will be entitled to execute up to one "Compliance Buy-Out" prior to the 2013/14 season pursuant to which payments made to the Player will not be charged against the team's Cap, but will be charged against the Players' Share.

Also to consider is how some teams may have 2 or 3 buyout options on their team and that they may trade that player to another team in order to get out from under the contract:

Each Team and possible players:

ANA-None...trade partner
BOS-Savard
BUF-Leino, Erhoff
CAL-None
CAR-None
CHI-None
COL-None
CLB-Wiz, Umberger
DAL-None
DET-None
EDM-Horcoff
FLA-Campbell, Fleishmann
MINN-Heatley
MTL-GOMEZ
NASH-None
NJ-Salvador
NYI-DiPietro
NYR-REDDEN
OTT-None
PHI-Bryzgalov, Pronger
PHX-None
PITT-Martin
SJ-Havlat
STL-None
TB-Lecavalier, Ohlund
TOR-Komisarek
VAN-Luongo (better trade value), Ballard
WASH-None
WINN-None

Add or delete your own...and if a team has 2 or more buyout candidates which teams that do not would be good trade partners and for what?

Heatley? I wouldn't guess so...same with Brian Campbell, who was absolutely terrific last season...

Also, the Penguins can't keep getting rid of top-4 defensemen for nothing, so scratch Martin off that list.

Sadly, TO actually needs Komi to play this year. He also only has 1 year left so i can't think of anyone.

Burke would be allowed to compliance buyout Komisarek next summer under the NHL proposal.

Uh, the Devils just re-signed Salvador this past offseason. Doubt they turn around and buy him out unless he falls flat on his face during the short season.

Anyways for the Devils likely no one. They are already under the proposed cap for next year and have money coming off

Don't you still have to pay these players? I find it hard to believe that contracts such as Luongo are going to get bought out.

No to Pronger, he can just get paid happily and hurt in St. Louis with his family.

1. Komi has one year left and sadly we do need him.

2. I don't see CBJ buying out Wiz as he looked amazing with JJ on the top pairing. He may be overpaid but he is in no way worthy of a buyout.

3. Soupy is playing great and in no way should be bought out. If he were than some team is getting a good #2/3 D man for free on FA.

I don't think there will be that many. Horcoff I doubt will be bought out since there is no reason to. He is overpaid but he's still the third line centre and the Oilers aren't up against the cap.

Sharks won't buy out Havlat. Sure, he's an injury risk, but the level of play and skill he brings can't be replaced internally and it's too risky to try and replace it externally on the fly. The only Shark I could think of would be Handzus, as his play was way below expected last year and he has a NMC. Even then I doubt they buy him out.

Gomez Kaberle Bourque .... Youppi (hate this orange puppy from a lost baseball club) and Mario Tremblay (terribad sport analyst)... can we just have hockey first ?!

Are these full dollar buyouts? A guy like Paul Martin isn't someone you pay 12-15 million dollars to just go away. He's still a serviceable #3/4 guy, just overpaid by ~1.5 million.

Why would he?

He is only signed until 13-14 and we have nobody to replace him, doesn't seem prudent. After this season we have a bunch of contracts coming off the books so cap won't be a problem.

I doubt the Flyers use the buy out option on Bryzgalov. Simply put, there isn't anything out there that's available that's better than Bryzgalov without having to give up a Couturier or Brayden Schenn in any deal. It will more than likely be Pronger who the buy out would apply to.

I don't think Minnesota would buyout Heatley.

Or Columbus Umberger or Wiz. They would be traded before. They have value.

Boston probably doesn't buyout Savard. He is on LTIR, they can continue to go over the cap by that amount until his contract is up.

My guess, Tim Thomas bye bye

Ehrhoff is one of our best D-men and has an amazing cap. No way the Sabres buy him out. Leino is the right answer.

We wouldn't unless it was a buyout/re-sign situation. Heatley still gets paid and we gain some flexibility for the summer.

Leafs wont be buying out anyone. Komi is done after next season and Burke still likes him and thinks hes important in the lockerroom.

That may change if we acquire some high priced assets however.

Except you left out the fact that Streit, Hamonic, and Bailey are due new contracts at the end of the year and Andrew MacDonald is due a big payraise in 2014. Also with the future set in stone for the Isles, I expect them to attract bigger free agents and not settle for the Marty Reasoners and Mark Eatons of the UFA market.

They would be stupid to not get DiPi's contract off the books without it counting towards the cap. What happens where were are gonna' have to pay the talent that we spent so many years developing and waiting for?

Philly is an interesting team. I wonder if they would buy Bryz out.
