Kane
Benn/Eberle

It's really a toss up between Benn/Eberle. Both are great players, I think I like Benn a bit more overall, but Eberle's clutch and a great offensive player. Talent wise, I don't think it's really close between Kane and Eberle/Benn. The only knock on Kane is his size; he's a great skater, has a deadly shot and is one of the best playmakers in the league, with arguably the best hands in the NHL, outside of Datysuk.

Two things worked against Kane last year when it came to production; 1. He played most of the season outside his natural position, but also didn't consistently play one position, going from C to RW, back to C, then to LW, and finally back to C.. 2. The Hawks PP was awful and over-coached. Kane was in the top-15 (tied for 9th, I believe) in even-strength scoring.

Eberle and company will only be improving by the season.

I'll just say this, Jamie Benn tripled Eberle in hits last season (he out hit Kane 136-19). Kane and Eberle out-scored Benn in 11-12, but Benn missed 11 games due to weird injuries (he needed an appendectomy and later in the year he got a deep cut on his leg from a skate).

Here's the goals and total points each scored in 11-12: Benn 27g 63pts, Kane 23g 66pts, Eberle 34g 76pts

This is a good poll. Kane, Eberle and Benn are all amazing players, but they all bring something different to their teams. I think Kane is the best offensive forward out of the three (obviously he put up 88 points 2 years ago). In my opinion Benn and Eberle are on the same level when it comes to offense. I give the "better player" edge to Benn because of his tremendous physicality.

If there was a fantasy draft tomorrow and it came down to selecting one of these guys, any team would be happy with any of these players.

I also agree that in a fantasy draft where hits count you should take Jamie Benn.

Patrick.

If it were Evander (as I originally thought) it would be a better poll.

Someone has to go to the dirty areas. +/- totals from last year don't lie. Who would most teams want? The 70ish pt one-dimensional player or the 70ish pt guy who plays a physical 2-way game?

I think Kane is the best player, but I'd take Benn over him for the Bruins. Imagine a Lucic-Benn-Horton line.

The thing is P Kane can be, and has been, more than a 70 point player. And if Chicago moves him back to the position he actually plays, he likely will be at or above a PPG again. Not to mention he's just flat-out the most skilled player of the 3.

Yeah, I think it's easy for people to forget that Kane is only a year older than Benn because he has been in the league younger, but he is so, so much more accomplished. Kane's career points per game is higher than Benn's career high and he has been in the league since the year he was drafted. He's just plain a better player.

Kane:
Age 19 - 72 points, 0.88PPG
Age 20 - 70 points, 0.88PPG
Age 21 - 88 points, 1.07PPG
Age 22 - 73 points, 1.00PPG
Age 23 - 66 points, 0.80PPG

Career points per game of 0.92

Benn:
Age 20 - 41 points 0.50PPG
Age 21 - 56 points 0.81PPG
Age 22 - 63 points 0.89PPG

Career points per game of 0.72

Patty Kane

Ebs/Benn

Kane is the most skilled of the group, puts up good numbers consistently (0.8 ppg was his worst year) and is both a playmaker and a sniper in my eyes at least. If you ended up with Ebs or Benn on your team you would still be excited

at Benn being unskilled. Least of the 3, I do agree, but he's very close if you actually watch his game. Great skill, the biggest and most physical of the three, plays the best defense, and just give him a year or two and his production will be similar to both of these players (right around a PPG, although I don't see Eberle staying there).

Benn, Eberle and Kane are pretty small and one dimensional which isn't as appealing to me.

Give Eberle and Kane a year or 2 and they very well could be 90-100 point scorers by then.

I take Benn. Im curius as to why the same op keeps posting these polls with Oilers players? Are you just fishing for compliments or what? Benn/Kane then Eberle. Benn wins it for me personally.

It's pretty misleading to call both players 70ish point guys when one scored 63 points and the other scored 76.

Kane, maybe. Eberle has little to no chance of doing that, and it's already been explained why in this thread.

Ah I see that now, I think a hyphen would have made it more clear. Comma makes it look like he is listing all the players lol
