I like that lineup, not sure how well Lupul-Kesler-Booth would click, though.
Could anyone remind me when Edler played on the right, and who his partner was? I can't remember him spending anything more than a cup of coffee over there.

Arnott is declining quickly. We're almost better off hoping that Malhotra regains pre-injury form than signing Arnott. Lack has had a rough season with the Wolves this year, GAA of 3.00 and .899 save %. If the season started now, I don't think he makes the team. Matt Climie's numbers have been much more repectable than Lack's. Find an extra 500K and we could buy time waiting for the right goalie trade. Toronto hasn't offered us any more than scraps for Luongo, let alone Lupul.
Kesler is months behind on re-habbing from surgery, I'm starting to doubt he'll be back this year, CBA settlement or not. Alberts hasn't show that he can cut it as a #6 D-man. Tanev will probably grab that spot. $400K cap hit for Clark? Are you hoping that league minimum goes down?
Of course, this is all very hypothetical. Without a CBA, no one knows what the landscape will look like if there's a settlement and a '12-'13 season.
I don't remember the Gilman interview, but Bowness had an interview on 1040 and said that they'll first try Garrison on the left with either Bieksa or Edler on the right (mentioned in the Canucksarmy article).
Also, Garrison has recently mentioned that he's been paired with Edler during practice drills (could also be because they've both been rehabbing with the Canucks)
I think they'll try Edler on Garrison's right, realize it's going to be an abject failure, and then switch Garrison to the right side. This will be the pairing IMO. It allows Edler to play to his strength, Garrison to play to his shot, and it keeps the other "working" pairings intact.

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Ballard-Tanev

Why do you think it would be better to play Garrison on his off side than Edler? I think it's more likely that the puck rusher would excel on his off side than the defensive anchor on the pairing.

Garrison has more experience on the right side than Edler. Garrison played the RS on the power play all last season with Campbell.
Playing RS in a static offensive zone situation doesn't really provide valuable experience for 5-5 play. Heck, last year Edler played a lot of RS on the PP with Salo sliding over to the left to play to both their shots.

Add a pick if we have to and get Kadri included with the Luongo deal. Arnott has been on a decline for some time now and couldn't keep up with a tortoise. Raymond would be among the worst linemates imaginable, although with the rush oriented style we deploy, Arnott himself would be at an absolute loss. I also agree with concerns regarding Lack and would prefer a temporary stopgap.
In fact, perhaps something alone the lines of:
Luongo+Raymond+pick for Lupul+Kadri+Reimer/Scrivens
Personally, I would favor Scrivens because of his salary and the possibility of us mentoring him alongside Lack. Certainly wouldn't care either way mind you.

Because I think Garrison will transition to the right side "easier" than Edler would. Edler's having a tough time on the left as it is. No need to complicate the matter further...
Normally I would agree, have Edler on the right. I just don't think it will work out that way in this scenario.
I'd b upset at ECHLfreak's return, but Lupul as a base is what I was pushing for for awhile. Lupul+1st is what I wanted, and Colborne, for our purposes this year, would likely be better then a pick from a team with Luongo in net, as in a pinch he can cover our bottom lines in the event of an injury. If it was a condensed season, sure, I suppose, but I'd still rather just keep Luongo if that's the best we could do.
I still stick with Shore, Petrovic and a 1st from Florida as the best return asset-wise. Kadri, Finn and a 1st from Toronto helps a touch more this year. Either of those deals are what I want from a Luongo trade.
Starting with the Florida trade I'd couple it with picking up one of Boychuk or Dalpe from Carolina for a pick and trading Raymond to Nashville with a pick for Blum, or with Schroeder to Phoenix for Rundblad. I'd then offload Ballard to the NYI for a second round pick.
I'm bored yet again, so time for another highly unlikely bunch of trade proposals.
1. Roberto Luongo to Toronto for Nikolai Kulemin, Nazem Kadri, Percy/Finn, and a 2nd round pick 2013
2. Nikolai Kulemin to Phoenix for Rostislav Klesla
3. Rostislav Klesla to NY Islanders for Frans Nielsen
4. Mason Raymond, Keith Ballard, Nazem Kadri, and TOR's 2nd round pick (and maybe a little something extra) to Ottawa for Daniel Alfredsson and Sergei Gonchar*
5. A prospect or mid draft pick to Florida for Scott Clemmensen**
So in the end it's Luongo, Ballard, and Raymond for Alfredsson, Gonchar, Nielsen, and a Percy/Finn.
