William Karlsson defenitely had his best game of the tournament, but was snake bitten with the posts. Made a terrific pass to Forsberg on the powerplay late in the second, Forsberg one timed it in the left post and later Karlsson created a scoring chance for himself but finished in the same post.
Unfortunately Rakell spent 12 minutes in the penalty box (got a 10 minute misconduct when he argued with the refs about a penalty shot they didn't get) so he got less time to find chemistry with his new linemates. Came back strong in the 3rd period when he started to let the puck go instead of trying to force it, made a nice drop pass to setup Arvidsson for the 3-1 goal.
Overall, the Swedes have been too fancy offensively at times with too many players trying to force scoring chances on their own. The team isn't looking good in the defensive zone either. The game against Finland could be a struggle.
I gotta say it is nice after last year to see other fans finally recognizing Gibson as a top goaltending prospect. You can only be so successful until people finally take notice. That has nothing to do with my expectations of him going forward to be clear. It's just nice to see fans of other countries respect him to the point that they're afraid to have to face him. Marakov is still the top tender so far in my book though. Last year I was thinking maybe his gold medal performance was just a one off amazing performance, but the kid is clearly skilled.
Yep. And I refuse to post in a GDT where a good number of Canadians are awake. One thing it'll be like trying to get a whole crowd to hear you. Another thing is any time an American plays with any physicality, it's a penalty. Any penalty against Canada is a bull**** call.
