But 2 years off of a prospect is tremendous, yes. But I'll take a rookie you wanted in the 1st round instead of year 3 of Steve ott or whatever he turns into.

The pick isn't the issue. It's the risk you are giving yourself. Year 3 doesn't necessarily have to yield anything and now you have to lose a pick you have no control over.

They should have let lou pick all 4 years and then pick which prospect to put back into the draft or something. That would be a site.
Exactly

No one is saying that Matteau is useless, it's just that when you have the 29th overall pick, odds are you won't be selecting any lower then that in the next 2 years. With a aging roster, our HOF goaltender probably hanging them up next year, Parise who was unwilling to sign a extension, a **** loads of UFA to sign in 2013 and our crappy record to keep our own players when reaching UFA status, etc, etc, etc... The safe choice would've been to hand that pick to Bettman.

For the debate of having Matteau earlier then the prospect of 2013 or 2014, that might be true but like you said, I'd rather have a middle range pick (or higher) that will bring more to the table down the road then a high pick that will "help" us out sooner but won't bring as much contribution.

You and I share the same opinion and that's just fine. We might be wrong and Matteau might turn out to be a steal at #29, who knows, but to act like a know it all ala Getzo is probably one of the reasons I've been avoiding this site for the last couple of months.

Licking a players ass for months is ok (Larsson for example) but when someone has something negative to say about one of our own, you are tagged as a rambler. Everyone has a opinion and if someone disagrees for whatever reason, you should be able to voice your thaughts... Period.

I really like that Severson pick. He's just another asset for our defence and could help us move someone like Urbom or possibly Merrill in order for us to add a stud forward via trade ala Rundblad for Tarasenko.

Boucher does just fine tonight without Galchenyuk. Goal and an assist in a 3-2 loss.

I really think USA screwed up not even inviting Boucher. Galchenyuk's the only guy on the team who's a threat to score from anywhere. Gaudreau and Grimaldi can be great setup guys but there's no one to SCORE.

Would be awesome to see Boucher rack up points with Gally gone. The amount of times you hear he is just coat tailing him.

Free streaming on the WHL & OHL websites today, had it yesterday too I think.

Ben thomson and Ben Johnson are playing for Kitchener and Windsor respectively. The London Knights are also playing if anyone wants to see draft eligible players Horvat and Domi.

Scarlett and Black playing for Swift Current tonight aswell. Don't know what the time difference is for that game though.

Henrique redux. The number of times we heard people say he was just a product of Hall. Hopefully Boucher can do the same.

The Swift Current game will be on at 9:30 EST. I'm guessing the promo code for WHL games would just be WHLFree2012

Edit: While we're on the topic of Boucher.

Paul Owen ‏@ObserverOwen
Sting have a "2-Pound" rule that all but one player managed to meet over Christmas. Reid Boucher came back six pounds heavy, Beaulieu said.

Uh oh....

Edit 2: Second part of the story, lol.

Paul Owen ‏@ObserverOwen
Beaulieu (jokingly) on Boucher: "He scores 30 goals, so he can have a little extra turkey."

Not Back from his injury yet but TG recently reported that he was hoping for clearance to resume contact and could rejoin the team soon.
