If you cant beat em, Bite em!!

I would prefer JT skate away from any and all scrums but hes not built that way. Hes a mans man and a great teamate.

That's why he's the future Captain.

I didn't realize Mike Tyson was playing in the Finnish League. Mike, Johnny is not Evander Kane! BTW, loved you in Hangover, Hangover 2 - not so much.

I refuse to believe there are bite marks. You can't bite into pure gold.

Not really. I'm kind of hoping it was a vampire bite. This way we'll essentially have 22 year old Tavares playing for the Islanders for all of eternity.

Think Keifer Sutherland. Still a bit puke-worthy but not as bad.

I'd rather George Hamilton. JT needs a little tanning. (an irony lost on that movie)

JT (bite marks and all) are about to face off against Cory Schneider and HC Fribourg-Gotteron in the Spengler Cup Semi-finals.

Late in the first Tavares setting things up on the PP. Canada Leads 1-0.

Spezza on a rebound off a Colaiacovo one timer from a feed from Tavares in the corner.

Tavares and Team Canada move on to play in the finals tomorrow night. 5-1 over HC Fribourg

Congrats to John Tavares and Team Canada on their Spengler Cup Championship. Tavares scored 2 goals and added an assist in the finals this morning. Third period goal was a Short handed breakaway goal. Hopefully we're about 3 weeks away from seeing him do this in Long Island.

When JT dons a Team Canada jersey, he always performs. Looking forward to him in Sochi in 2014 now that the Mayans were wrong.

It just shows you what he's capable of on a team with a lot of talent. Hopefully we can be that type of team in the very near future. BTW, Tavares was taking some heat in that Ottawa-NYI trade thread. You should check it out for a good laugh.

I think he played wing most of the tournament, with Spezza at centre. He took very few faceoffs. I've PVRd the finals, will watch it later today.

Two questions: How many Tavares breakaway goals have we ever seen? How many Tavares short-handed breakaway goals have we ever seen?

I need to see some highlight, fast. Link?

Nice goal, I love how he was one of the slowest skaters ever when he first came into the league and now he actually has a decent pair of wheels
