Actually Ive noticed he's quite the puckhog, rarely using his linemates, leading to numerous turn-overs as he attempts to shift through entire opposing line.

I sort of agree he was guilty of that against the US, but so was every Russian. That team is just coached really weird. The whole Subway series they were very passive on the forecheck and their was little chemistry between Yak, Khoklachev and Sigarev, and yet the Russian coach seldom tried to mix things up with his lines. I don't want to be the homer fan making a million excuses for his prospect because I agree Yakupov has played below his capabilities, but that whole line seems lost with each other. All 3 look frustrated with how plays develop, and so they all try to do too much on their own.

And that's why it's a bit asinine to say that Yakupov is more like Zherdev.

Yakupov has a similar passion for the game like Ovechkin. No way he busts.

McNeill (c)
Nick Leddy or Hjarlmasson
P.Sharp
2nd

Yakupov
Gagner
G prospect Tyler Bunz
5th round pick

Chicago take a big time risk giving up a top 20 winger in his prime(Sharp) a solid defender in Leddy or Hammer to help the emerging D Now, and Edmonton gets a big physical centre prospect in McNeil who has 2C-3C potential. Chicago reluctantly adds Gagner to play while Teuvo matures.

Edmonton-

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Sharp-Horcoff-Hemsky
Smyth-Belanger-Jones
Eager-Petrell-

Whitney-Shultz
Petry-Leddy/Hammer
Shultz-Smid/Potter

Chicago

Stalberg-Toews-Yakupov
Hossa-Gagner-Kane
Saad-Bolland-Shaw
Danault-Kruger-Hayes¿Carcillo

Or

Saad-Toews-Kane
Stalberg-Yakupov-Hossa
Gagner-Bolland-

If I'm Edmonton I take the Leddy aspect of the offer, get Chicago to make the pick a 1st in 2013 and move the pick going to Chicago to a 3rd and run with this deal.

It hasn't been a very good tournament for Yak so far.

He hasn't been bad, but he hasn't really looked good either.

I don't think this really takes much off his trade value, but it is interesting to watch him play right now.

Nope. Not a chance. Wouldn't trade Myers straight up for Yakupov (not that Yak isn't good, but a no 1 D is far more important than a top line winger...Not to mention one of those players has proven he can play at that level in the NHL and the other is still TBD), let alone adding the only natural center on Buffalo's roster.

So

Sharp
Leddy
McNeill
1st

Yakupov
Gagner
Bunz
3rd

Chicago can afford to loose McNeill ,
They have Hayes x2 Saad, TT , Pirri Danault and Beach itching for a shot. It may not be a huge loss.

They could try Yak at centre, if not Pirri can along with Gagner have a chance.

The future would improve for both teams in different ways.

As a Habs fan, I'm shocked none of my fellow Habs fans have offered a deal around Plekanec to get Gally and Yakupov back together, unless I missed it reading

He has been the most exciting player for the Russians. The problem is every team knows to shut him down. Russia has really good depth and that has saved them this year. I would bet that he scores on Canada.

If this deal were on the table, there is no way the Oil could say no. Big fan of Sharp.

It would take a HUGE "+" to Plekanec for Edmonton to consider that kind of deal. It would not happen.

Exactly. The only forward that I can see interesting Edmonton is Pacioretty and that would still take more

Which is where Montreal says "thanks" and politely hangs up.

Yakupov is worth more than Myers straight up, worth more than Subban straight up and worth much more than Carlson straight up.

People will understand in a year or three.
