Garza is coming off of an injury and is a free agent at the end of the year. Why on earth would it be a + +? Sure we would free up some salary but I really don't think this is a good trade in the least even without the ++

Considering there would most likely be teams lining up for Garza and that we'd be giving up an expensive, aging pitcher who is going to be on the decline soon, i'd say it would be +. Maybe not a ++, but definitely a +.

I would love a garza for buerhle deal.

Maybe give some mlb ready players like cooper, davis, etc something to help the cubs fill a cheap hole on their team or bench. Also add in a good but not elite prospect like mcguire or jenkins.

Garza for Buerhle+Cooper/Lind+Jenkins.

Sounds good to me. Lind would be something I can see them wanting.

I'm sure there'd be a few teams very interested in him but he's coming off a season ending injury and is in the last year of his contract. That decreases his value. I doubt they'd be interested in Buerhle at all really as their obviously in a rebuild which likely means we wouldn't look at them as a trade partner anyway. Buerhle for as expensive as he is (knock on wood) is our reliable innings eating veteran leader. That holds value to a team trying to contend.

Garza does have a good history pitching in the AL East though .. Maybe the deal hinges on Buerhle's ability to get his dogs across the boarder, if he and the Jays can't work something out, maybe AA will trade Buerhle back to the US so he can keep his dogs with him?

A little random

Yes I agree on all points, however I think that perhaps it suits both teams.

We got our clubhouse leader in dickey. Garza has a history playing in the ALeast and dominating. If we can have a rotation of dickey, garza, JJ, Morrow, Romero, happ.

Well thats just down right scary. I also wouldnt pay through the nose because of his injury concearns. Thus why my proposal had more reasonable players. im not giving up any grade A prospects for him.

Yeah it's great to watch this series again. My only gripe thus far has been that Sportsnet cuts away too quickly. I hope they don't do that for the final game. I want to see a lot of the celebration.

Why would Cubs, a rebuilding team want back Buehrle and his bloated salary in a trade? I seriously doubt AA is going to trade for another arm, we have enough. He might go after a backend bullpen arm though.

AA has specifically said we're at our payroll limit. We aren't adding any more salary which means if we did make a trade it'd be salary for salary and there isn't much we can afford to give up. Lind perhaps but we'd need a 1B/DH coming back for him.

why would we wanna trade one of our 2 lefties for a righty? lets roll with 4 righties and a lefty at the end, thats a solid rotation...

Not me. I was suggesting if they cant get the dog sorted out. No other option but to try to get value back.

As much as I doubt he'd be traded I hate this argument. How long did Escobar last in Miami? Yeah players are able to be traded after a deal is done.

But Escobar wasn't needed, that's the problem with that.

The Jays need Beuhrle to pitch 200 innings and he has the ability to win 18 games especially pitching 3rd in the rotation if that's where he ends up.

In the trade suggested I said the jays would keep him. I'm just saying that just because we just acquired him doesn't mean there's no way he'd be traded. Escobar is needed in Miami their just gonna run with the not quite ready Hech because their owners an idiot

my fav jays:

Gruber

Ohh my apologies.

Kind of interesting to see Hechavarria start. He's got all the tools and its such a young team that you just never know what will happen.

On a side note, I wonder how Escobar is going to be used in Tampa. Off the bench?

He will start because Tampa has crappy shortstop and he starts for most teams in baseball. He fills a big hole for them.

I can't believe Miami just gave him away for pennies on the dollar. And they are starting Hech everyday... haha, they are going to be such an awful team.

In 92 my 2 favorite players were Key, and Gruber. Both of them were gone by the time the Jays repeated in 93.

No wonder why no one goes to their games. I would have given up years ago. A complete joke of an organization.

With what TB gave up for him you have to figure there was no market to get value for him and he almost became a throw in for this trade. Kind of telling IMO.

Two teams gave up on him for off field issues. Not a huge market for a guy like that.

But is any team can get the most out of him it is Tampa.
