I'd love to see a public counter-offer from the PA just to see how far apart they really are now. Has there been a truly public offer from the PA or has it all just been speculation? Seems so secretive from that side.

I think it moves to $64 million. Fehr needs to pick his spots carefully here. He needs to come closer to the NHL's wants. I'm all for the union, but Bettman is an ******* along with the rest of his clan, they won't budge.

Didn't Fehr stand in front of the cameras and give the details on the players counter offer during the last go around? Or are people dismissing that as lies and grandstanding for some reason?

At $60m cap, the floor would be $44m. I wonder how either side would feel about leaving the floor at 44, but raising the cap to $65m just for the one season and then going to the $16m spread in 2014.

Oh Fehr really told the truth on that press-conference he did. Declaring how close they were and that the owners and PA' agreed on most of the previous disagreements.

But wait a minute, he did lie that time so I don't doubt that he would lie again.

But thy realistically are pretty close and have agreed on some important parts of a deal? Also, why would you believe Bettman more than Fehr? Neither one should exactly be held over the other when it comes to believability. Neither one is on "your" side.

Bettman has been completely straightforward and honest in his press conferences regarding where the NHL stands. Does this leave him free of blame for the situation? Absolutely not. Instead of handling the situation like an adult he pouts and stops talking when the PA rejects the NHL's proposals or when presented a counter offer he doesn't like. Much like a child.

Bettman has not been completely straightforward. Not by any stretch. Characterizing situations in which the sides are close as being "far apart" is not straight forward. Threatening to pull your offer off the table when you know you'll be giving back some of what you demanded on the next one is not straight forward.

Look, I think Fehr's been just as bad. But the idea of Bettman as being straightforward in his pressers was too ridiculous to leave be.

Bettman: This is our best offer. It only gets worse from here. (Repeat 5 times)

We will make the players whole (by taking the money from their future share).

Bill Daly: This is the hill we will die on.

I just saw one of those Garden renovation vignettes and one of the ironworkers on the project is one of Kerry Fraser's 574 children... I thought it was cool to have that NHL connection to the work being done on the site, but I have to think that the on-ice officials are getting screwed beyond belief during the work stoppage. They make money but by no means player money.

Does anyone know if they are getting paid by the league even if no games are played or, if not, if they are working in Europe, the minors, or college level?

Scott Gomez buyout from CapGeek.com
2013-14: $4,357,143
2014-15: $1,500,000

Still a horrible cap hit for the 1st year. Unless they change the formula in the new CBA.

The deal includes 1 amnesty buyout per team, so it wouldn't hit the team's cap like a standard buyout under the old CBA.

Doh. Brain Fart.

And we use our amnesty on Wade. Thank God that'll be included.

maybe, might have to use it on Gaborik if the 2013 cap settles at 60. I suspect the PA will push back on that and it will settle on 63-65, which means they should be able to keep Gabs and ditch Wade.

is it 1 amnesty only this season? or is this a recurring thing? we only have a year and a half of redden left, i dunno if I'd waste it on that. but what else on haha

Since AHL contracts above a certain number, (definitely under 6.5) will undoubtably count again the cap, we'll have to use it on Wade.

It's 1 amnesty for next season, when the cap drops to 60 mil.

Definitely not a reoccurring thing. AHL contracts counting will pretty much force us to use it on Wade.
