Molin had a goal and a primary assist this morning in Sweden's 5-1 win against Latvia. They were on the 1st and 2nd goals too, not in garbage time.

Nothing special about the goal. I can't remember exactly if it was a rebound that left him wide open with a gaping net or if it was a pass. It was still waking up.

I missed the assist, but he was in on some nice passing plays throughout the game. Mark mentioned his line is the most productive for Sweden so far in the tournament, and they did seem to be the most dangerous in this game.

I'm hoping to force myself to wake up at 5AM and watch US/Canada tomorrow.

The last few days of the WJC have brought me back to hockey a bit including watch the last few Texas games. Hopefully these morons don't mess that up and training camp is starting on January 11th.

I don't have a ton of confidence in the owners or the players though.

There is absolutely no good reason not to on a Sunday morning, This is always a classic game!

Good luck USA...

Let the early morning trash talk begin!

Does one pull for their nation or their top WJC prospect in this one?

Personally, I hope we will be watching our next top prospect in this one too. Please dear God we have all been patient Dallas Stars fans, make it somehow possible to draft us one of Jones, Mack or Drou in 2013!

It's tough for me. I want to see Ritchie find more success and start scoring some goals. I also want him to go deep in the tournament ... at least the bronze medal game if not for gold.

However, it's impossible to not to pull for the American's. It's fun watching your country win, and beating the best is the most fun. Any time you get a chance to see the US beat Canada, Sweden, Russia, Finland, etc., it's a great day.

The draft picks is a double edged sword. Dallas' best shot at those players is for there to be no season. I won't stand for that. If these knuckleheads don't come together when they are so damn close, I truly don't think I could stomach sticking with those idiots. These ego maniacs have been stalling for a 48 game season, and there better be one starting in two weeks.

If that happens, and I'm cautiously optimistic, I just don't get the feeling Dallas is a lottery team this year. Worst case scenario is they are just on the outside looking in of the playoffs which would be gut wrenching.

A Top 5 pick just seems highly unlikely.

Maybe you will get to see Dallas' pick though tomorrow .... Ryan Hartman.

Seems like a Dallas type draft pick, and he could be slotted in the right area for Dallas to get him.

I want Barkov more than anyone (obviously). I think he's got a brighter future than MacKinnon.

Finally getting to see him today, too. Been really wanting to.

Bringing your two thoughts about the WJC and the current NHL disgrace is exactly what makes this event special. It's just fun to be a hockey fan, see the future of the game and have all out spaz attacks when your country has success. Best part is, less ego, no money on the line, only kids playing for national pride and for some of the draft eligible it's about playing for merit in the rankings.

It's an all around great event, where even some of the weaker teams have some really bright talent worth watching. Will I be echoing these same happy thought about the WJC in 6 hours time??...

Hmmm power forward with the potential to grow into a big frame as a late bloomer. Having a pretty good first year with Plymouth...I will have to keep my eye on him.

I hope I can make it. It's damn near 3 here. The only thing keeping me up is the fury of winter out my window. 25cms of snow overnight!

If someone had to be moved down it should of been McNeill. I like him but he has not played well at all thus far in my opinion. Hopefully he can step up his game. Rattie-Danault-Ritchie would of been a nice 3rd line though.

It might be a really good move, dare I say.

Ritchie will get a chance to mix it up and play with Nuge, Strome and MacKinnon on occasion. Not the end of the world, besides Drouin and Strome love the puck, Ritchie might as well park himself right in front and watch them, and it was probably more noticeable against the Germans and Slovaks. Drouin gravitates toward playing mainly with his centerman and playing a 2 man cycle game with a finishing/skilled centerman.

It's no fault of Ritchie's, that hasn't been really involved, although with a better quality opponent his big body could now be more useful along side the smaller skilled guys. I could see him generating more off the rush with say a combo of Camara, MacKinnon, Ritchie.

EDIT: on second thought, I doubt he sees anytime with Nuge, but ya never know

Ritchie looks much more active in this game. He had the primary assist on the Strome goal. He's looking pretty good so far.

Ya Ritchie has stepped up the intensity, doesn't look like he wants to play to body to heavily because of his nagging upper body injures. Glad to see him get a big assist like that.

Anyway Ritchie had another pretty good chance in front toward the end of the 2nd. The puck seems to find him.

Well, really disappointing that the game devolved into a special teams exercise, meant we didn't see much of Ritchie in the 3rd.

Really liked that Ritchie set-up pass to Strome.
