I felt he played a Buff "rover" type game. He was strong offensively, skated well, and made good passes, but I don't think his defensive game is his strong suit yet.

Did anyone else get a Buff vibe? Not in a negative sense, just in how Jones seemed to roam?
His skating is lights out and yes he is the rover for the US......his skating is good enough for him to get back in the play most of the time. I agree his defence is lagging behind his offence but I still think it is good. When I compare Jones to a player like Doug Hamilton I think Jones has a higher ceiling I think he is allot better skater.

Maybe I am alone on this one but for my money Canada's best defenseman so far has been Xavier Ouellet. He is very tidy in both ends of the rink. Detroit strikes again

According to Spott, Scheifele might be double shifted tomorrow both on RNH's wing and playing center as well.

My guess is he might be reunited with Camara on the 4th line. Strome and Ritchie have been together the whole tournament and MacKinnon and Drouin were making magic when they were put back together. Maybe it's time to reunite 2/3 of the Colts' top line.

that would be really sweet......I wonder how his fitness would hold up.....he seemed a bit gassed in the 2nd half of the exhibition game against Sweden when spot was playing his unit 1:30 shifts. He is use to playing allot of minutes in the OHL but not at the pace this game will be played at tomorrow. It would be good to do this once in a while though.

Fun with numbers:

Canada's Forwards
NameSOGGSH%
Scheifele 10 3 30.0%
Strome 6 3 50.0%
Huberdeau 6 1 16.7%
RNH 5 2 40.0%
Drouin 4 2 50.0%
Rattie 4 2 50.0%
Ritchie 4 0 0.0%
MacKinnon 4 0 0.0%
Lipon 3 0 0.0%
McNeil 3 0 0.0%

USA's Defence
NameSOGGSH%
Jones 9 1 11.1%
Gostisbehere 6 1 16.7%
Trouba 5 2 40.0%
Rielly 3 0 0.0%

Keep in mind crazy sh% are sustainable in small samples (tournaments), since goals are probably affected more by positioning/chances than in a large sample (ex 82 NHL games)
Interesting to see how large Jones and Scheifele's SOG are to the rest of their teammates

Yes, and Ouellet is a dandy on the point on the PP. I really like his quick decision making and great shot back there.

Actually, I thought that he got stronger and stronger in the Slovakia game, even on longer shifts. I had some concerns with his conditioning in the pre-tournament games, but I think it might just have been the big time shift and long trip.

I'm not going to lie, every time I read Jones on this board I think you're talking about Randy Jones. Guys, I don't think he's going to go first overall. He's too old and I don't think he's even playing in this tournament.

Braden, if you're reading this, I know you're reading this.

It'll be nice to see MacKinnon get some more minutes, should be a good one.

Subban has brutal rebound control.

Both out prospects look good so far.
