He shouldn't have been on this team, even as a Blazer fan there is no way he should have been there. Lowry or Shinkaruk would have been a better choice. The bringing of 3 goalies has also screwed us over, Spott is not a very smart man.

Spott can complain all he wants. He picked the damn team.

Shinkaruk out performed him.

It's not like Danault or McNeil have looked much better.

Spott doesn't know when to shut his mouth. (This isn't the opportunity for you guys to tell me to shut my mouth either. )

I can't believe that this coach may actually end up costing us the tourney. RNH is gonna have to go beast mode if we want to win. I'm sure Spott will promote Murphy to a forward when he's not on the ice as a d-man.

I guess he must not trust Blingington either so he puts in a shaky Subban? Guess he didn't trust Frankie Corrado either? Idiot.

Wow, very surprising. Must have seen one of the best games of his life. He was more impressive than Nathan McKinnon...

Hopefully he looks good in warmups. Don't want to see Detroit come away with another steal.

We must be watching different games. Danault has quietly been our best defensive forward so far.

JC Lipon has been terrible and this hasn't surprised me one bit. He was brutal in the game I saw him play in Victoria against the Russians. Lipon projects very poorly - small and not a good skater. He simply doesn't look like he can compete in this tournament.

Good points all round about Spott's questionable roster calls. He strikes me as someone who is unsure of himself - a lot of second-guessing of his own choices (I.e - bringing 3 goaltenders when he had already anointed Subban as the starter, thus leaving the team short handed in other areas)

That's just a new rule, teams can bring 3 goaltenders and every team has.

Not a fan of Spott.

Haven't liked the way he has conducted himself in interviews with regards to the officiating. He should have kept a lid on it. Acknowledge the differences in the standards and say that the team needs to adjust.

Selection of the team, some interesting decisions to say the least. Rolled the dice with keeping Jenner on the roster despite the 3 game suspension. Had the IIHF ruled that Carama's hit was suspendable, Canada would have faced the USA with only 10 forwards, then the next day would play Russia with 10 tired forwards and 3 fresh ones.

Goalies, no reason to put everything on one goalie. Subban hasn't looked good in any of his appearances for Canada since the selection camp.

I'm 100% in and would normally post in this thread, but I need my CPU to watch the game. Still bummed that TSN is charging for the streams. But I get it.

If I lived closer, I'd suggest we have a 1:30AM HF Viewing Party. But, sadly...

Go Canada Go! Suffice to say if I have trouble sleeping tonight, I'll be getting up to watch!

I would love to stay up for this and find an online stream but adjusting to catching games on East Coast time has been harder than I thought - especially so with 1:30 am WJC starts.

I'm gulping down a half litre of coffee as we speak. I couldn't even fall asleep if I wanted to.

I believe the issue is the distance to Ufa and also probably the notoriously difficult Russian visa process so they need to have 3 in case one goes down.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but The IIHF recently changed the rules to allow every team to carry three goaltenders. As far as I know this does not eat up a roster spot, so it doesn't hurt Canada any to bring three goaltenders.

Regardless, I think bringing Jake Paterson along as a spectator is a smart idea as there's a great chance he'll be the starting goalie for Canada next year.
