Looking forward to playing some of The Witcher tonight. I finished the Prologue on Wednesday but haven't touched Chapter 1 yet. I was too busy with a massive TFC session (10+ hours in one session, new personal record!! ) and haven't had time in the past two days. Should be able to enjoy some of it today unless I get distracted by TFC again or maybe start playing Natural Selection 2 with a friend of mine.
A buddy gave me a copy of Legend of Grimrock for Christmas. Dungeon Crawlers! Yay!!!!!
Level 2 gave me a little trouble. Spent 3 hours on the game and I'm only on level 3
To add to Binding of Isaac, you can also take a look at Dungeons of Dredmor. They're both really cheap dungeon crawlers with infinite replayability. BoI is a lot simpler and DoD is really complex in terms of gameplay and abilities so whichever end of the spectrum you want to be at more, take a look at that game, or take both! I actually have an extra Binding of Isaac code if you want it, registers on Steam.
I got this from the Steam sale and have already logged a ridiculous amount of hours into the game. As the title suggests, it's a similar "4x" (explore, expand, exploit & exterminate) strategy game similar to the Civilization franchise, except in the vastness of space. The game was released in 2006 but aside from cutscenes, is pretty sleek graphically. The gameplay is fantastic, despite being solely single player - something I typically dislike. There are a ton of ways to play so it's not simply a military strategy game. From reviews online, it's generally considered the best space-based 4x game, and one of the very best 4x games in general, up there with Civ IV. There's a ton of depth, and the AI is fantastic without cheating (except at the very highest difficulty, of which there are ~10).
If you want a game you can really sink your teeth into, check it out. You can buy the Galactic Civilizations Complete collection (GalCiv 1, GalCiv2, and two expansions) for $6.24 on Steam for the next 15 hours.
I picked up Ikaruga yesterday after playing it on and off for the last four years.
I've finally realized it isn't a game that I can play casually, although what shmup is?
After three hours of the game ****** me for not playing it for so long I started to find my game again. I have broken my chain/score record on the first two stages, and can reach the end of stage three on 1 credit. My chains on the third stage are coming along. The last two levels I'll worry about when I get there..
I've managed to sneak into the top 1500 on the leader boards, which might not seem like much, but if you've spent any time at all with this game you understand.
The problem with FC1 is that the AI is either way too good or way too dumb, sometimes borderline cheating. I did beat it, and man, it gets a LOT worse near the end. Fighting off an entire room of mostly invisible enemies is bleh...
